Actually I was thinking about one elderly Aunt????

Of course, I knew that. WE'll cross that bridge when we come to it. xx

Ooooh ladies, I'm SO EXCITED!!! We booked our venue on Sunday! We went with Kingscote Barn - I'd spoken to the local vicar and he seemed lovely, and we went to the service at one of the three churches he looks after - he came over and said hello before the service, and in fact as soon as we walked in, the lady handing out hymn books said 'Oh hello, are you two the Kingscote couple?'!! It was so welcoming and lovely.

We went back to Kingscote - sadly it was another gorgeous sunny day (we wanted to see it on a cold rainy day to get a better idea of what it is most likely to be like in Jan!) - but it cured all our niggles about the place - the bar is not as 'cold' feeling as we thought, and the barn is cosier than I remembered. We decided the whole thing (barn, accommodation on site, 2am finish, caterers who will do what we want and no corkage) was just what we wanted, and that we wanted to book!

Didn't pay a deposit on the spot - they are going to send through paperwork etc. Can't wait for them to send it through!

Just had to share. Hugs of happiness to everyone! xx

    Thanks V!
We have to finalise the guest list now - sent it to both my parents and sending it to OH to send to his, as obviously they may have suggestions etc. Hopefully over the Easter weekend we can draw up the list more finally (and decide on whether to include kids) and send out Save the Dates.

I've also got a photographer lined up (we need to meet with her first before booking) and a family friend has also offered to be photographer, so we might have more than one!

Once you have the venue, the date, the ceremony and the officiant, what's the next most pressing task? I've chosen two bridesmaids (sister and best mate), but might add a third - OH is dithering over BM choice, and hasn't picked ushers yet. Is that urgent?

    xx

    Hi Jojo

Sorry for the delay in replying but my laptop has been broken and I've also been away for a few weeks.

As for what to do next I've signed up to a website that sends me an email of what to do & when so if you PM me your address I'll let you have a copy if you like.

I wouldn't worry about your OH not choosing his BM or ushers, we've been told that suits need about 3 months notice so I'm hanging on a bit for that (hoping they'll have a sale :rotfl:: unlikely I know!)

Did you see much of the wedding? I rang my mum when I saw her dress and the first thing she said was "we've got good taste" as it is quite like mine!! I thought she looked beautiful but not sure about the choice of colours for her sister.

    Hi V,
Hope your lappy is working okay now!

Glad to hear ushers and best man choice aren't as pressing as I thought - and we had a good chat about it and narrowed down the choices to two options. It's on OH's list of things to do, so there might be progress...:rotfl:

LOVED the Royal Wedding! I agree on the choice of BM dress colour - surprising, but I thought the dress itself was stunning! Also the bride's dress, but have a suspicion that the evening dress she wore later was more her own taste... She did look lovely though, and all credit to her for appearing so calm!

If your colours etc are similar to theirs, you do indeed have excellent taste. My OH texted me six seconds after the flypast, saying 'no, you can't have one'. He knows me too well, although I am still thinking it would be worth not having any food for a Lancaster, Spitfire etc... :D

How's everything else coming along? I'm designing Save the Dates - might go with magnets, as we can't email everyone (some non-email users) and I like them, and think they are cool and pretty. Plus hopefully not too expensive if Vistaprint send me a freebie offer as I am told they usually do... We're also going to do tastings with the caterers asap, with my mama, who will be able to negotiate for England, so should get some food in place soon, which would be ace.
Have PM'd you my email, the list would be amazing, thank you.

Hope to catch up on everyone's progress soon! xx

    Hi

I was just wondering how everyone's plans are coming along?

I'm currently in the process of trying to arrange my hen party (although this is proving to be an absolute NIGHTMARE so may not actually happen)

    Hi V,

No real movement this end - although my mama brought up a good point that I want to research - what about the possibility of rubbish weather affecting things! I need to email the venue and ask them what happened during the snow last year. I know getting into the venue (down the long drive through the farm/fields) is fine, as they have tractors to clear the roads. Just not sure about the rest of the route!

I have, however, ordered my Save the Date magnets from Vistaprint - the free offer came through at last!

We've also thought about invites a lot - couldn't find a design we liked, so what we're currently thinking of doing is getting some lovely notepaper (maybe with one of those stamps that embosses your initials onto paper), and writing each couple/guest a letter to invite them - it's appropriate as throughout our relationship we've always written letters to one another. We will probably then include the address of a wedding website for people to visit (and details of what's on that site for guests who aren't likely to use the website). That way, e.g. we can tell guests with kids that they are welcome to bring them, and ask them to make sure the wee ones are quiet(ish) during the ceremony, and see if they would use an 'Event Nanny' if we hire one etc - we thought that would be nice and personal. What do you ladies reckon?

Hope everyone else's plans are coming along well!

V - hen do. I just arranged my best mate's - can I help at all? I remember that trying to pick a date when the most people were available was hard work! You can use 'Groups' on Facebook to do it, if that helps? Allows people to comment on ideas and contribute. If you need a rant, then you have my email! x
