    Very good MoneySaving MrsC!

Update: we've decided against my old college - they were just too inflexible as a venue (although pretty!) and it was going to be pretty expensive too...
We've viewed Lains Barn in Wantage, which was lush, but we were a bit concerned that the corridor from the bar area (the 'Indoor Byre') was a bit narrow and might cause congestion; as we're having wintertime, we can't rely on being able to open the doors into the courtyard to ease the traffic (the barn is arranged around 3 sides of an open courtyard).

We're going to try and view Birtsmorton Court in Worcestershire, and Notley Abbey, in Oxfordshire - any of you lovelies heard of/seen these? I live in Denmark at the mo, so finding weekends to do viewings is a bit hard, but we'll get there!

Any other Jan 2012 news ladies? xx

    Hi all

Well I've found the dressmaker, and she has drawn a beautiful dress based on a pronovia dress (I'd attach a pic but not sure how!). After trying on numerous dresses in the shops none felt like me, and getting a bit disappointed I'm really excited about this dress :j

We've also decided on an "art deco" theme so it's all coming together

    :D
  • Excellent v! Its great to find one that you're dead excited about! Hope it all goes to plan with it and it turns out just how you want it!!

  • I really really want to rant but I daren't!!! I managed to get all 5 flowergirl dresses in the Monsoon sale, should have been £350 and got them all for £100! Woo!!! They look great with their little red stoles aswell :)

Felt quite hurt the other day though. My 4 year old 'step' daughter turned round the other night and told me that she wasn't going to be a flowergirl, no wearing any dress, tiara, nothing, and she wasn't going to go. When I asked her why not she told me "cos mum says I'm not!".

Now, while I know she is only 4 years old and they say a lot of things, I can actually believe that her mother would stoop so low as to say this! I've started to play on the reverse psychology that works with her and calmly told her that I don't mind if she doesn't want to do it then I don't mind, I will find another little girl to wear a pretty dress and a tiara and walk with all the other girls.......while inside I was absolutely raging and wanting to rip her mothers head off!

I sometimes wonder why I wanted to include the kids in this wedding and the idea of just disappearing is really really beginning to appeal again!

Hurrah! This is great news. I'm heading into a March filled with wedding dress trying on, so hopefully will have similar news soon too. Pics-wise, you need a photobucket account, and to upload the pics to that. Once you've done that, will shake my brain around until the info on how to post pics falls out (it's in there somewhere...!)

MrsC, sorry to hear this. Hope it gets resolved. 5 flowergirls though? You're a braver woman than me! I'm not having any, I have visions of a child, a crayon and a pretty dress not mixing... xx

    Hi

I've created an account but it doesn't recognise the pics as they are in Adobe or Word. Not sure how I can upload it now !

As for the 5 flower girls, rather you than me too, mind you you can always delegate to your chief bridesmaid... isn't that what they are there for lol

You need to convert the files into jpgs. Not sure of the best way to do this, tbh, but the Techie board on here will tell you!

Well I've managed to find a pic of the basis of my dress (not great but you'll get the general idea I hope lol) which I hope loads. Thanks heavens for google images!

I wouldn't mind some opinions on what to do with my hair. I've got quite fine hair which I am trying to grow at the moment and I'm planning on having a headband rather than a tiara to go with it.

  • lol V and Jo! Yes I am brave - they are 4 nieces and my future step daughter (maybe) so at least my sisters will be there to look after their off spring for me, and granny for step daughter. They are generally well behaved kids tho my sister calls her youngest two 'terrorists'! It could be interesting but lovely and cute all the same! I want them to enjoy the day as much as me and as the only kids will be immediate family kids I don't mind them running around as much. No more children will be there to stress me out tho!
