Ooooh ladies, I'm SO EXCITED!!! We booked our venue on Sunday! We went with Kingscote Barn - I'd spoken to the local vicar and he seemed lovely, and we went to the service at one of the three churches he looks after - he came over and said hello before the service, and in fact as soon as we walked in, the lady handing out hymn books said 'Oh hello, are you two the Kingscote couple?'!! It was so welcoming and lovely.
I have a friend who got married in Kingscote Barn and they had a really good day. I went to see it myself and I did like it but it was a bit far to travel and I had a local place that was also nice.0 -

Oooh, someone else who got married at Kingscote! yay for that! I'm really hoping we have a great day too. It is a long way for us, but we absolutely love it, and hopefully our guests won't mind travelling an hour and a bit to get to us (for the London ones) or slightly longer (some of the others). If at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you

I actually got to try on something resembling a dress last time and it looked beautiful. Am really really pleased with it.
WE NEED A PICTURE!!!!!!!
I think we need to do now is to sort out table dressings but I can't make up my mind what I want so I'm off to the wholesalers on Sunday afternoon with my friend who is sorting it out for us so I can decide (hopefully!!).
I so hear you on this. I have NO idea about table centres. The quotes I've had have been majorly pricey, but I can't decide what we could do ourselves (which is going to be the likely option) that will look nicest!! If you decide, I'd love to know what you're going for!
I got a reminder today that my wedding is now only 3 months away and so into double figures...... ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH where has the time gone.
I know. We're practically at the two month mark - HOW?
Where are you going on your honeymoon jojo? I've looked at all sorts of places but can't really decide. Thought I'd decided on one place but it turns out its in the rainy season and it's majorily humid so not sure about it now
We're blowing the budget and going to Vic Falls, Botswana, Namibia and Cape Town... It is rainy season, but we'll just use rainy afternoons as nap times (yes, I am middle aged enough to fancy a nap almost every day), and the humidity isn't a problem. Where were you thinking V?
Also, I just booked the DJ, and we've made progress on our 'local' Banns... Hurray!
And I just made a cake. Wedding diet going well...;):pIf at first you don't succeed, then sky-diving isn't for you

Hi
I will post a pic next time I go for a fitting in a couple of weeks.
I've managed to sort out our table centres now. As we're having an art deco / black, white & silver theme I've gone for tall clear vases for the day tables with black & white nylon flowers with silver strands in them (sounds horrible but looks lovely) and simple tea lights and then for the extra evening tables we're having smaller coloured vases, three black and three white with the alternate coloured flowers in them. Hope that makes sense.
I had no idea what to find and if I'd seen the flowers separately I wouldn't have taken a second glance but luckily a friend who is doing the table decs for me came with me and set them all up so I could see the finished product and it looked fab.
Have you looked on google images for your colour scheme? Are you still having the purple scheme Jojo (or am I thinking of someone else)? If so, how about alliums in a tall vase - I love these flowers and have a few fake ones at home. As another idea, a friend of ours had really tall candlesticks with purple ribbon crossing the tables and just simple sparkly things sprinkled and that was lovely.
Your honemoon sounds AMAZING !!! We're thinking of Kuala Lumpar and Borneo for ours but after a bit of a rant at the OH he's now organising it so we could end up in Bognor Regis instead !!!0 -
Hey V (and you other quiet Jan brides!!)
Art Deco is an AWESOME theme - your centres sound so lovely. Hope the fitting goes well.
I have my first dress fitting on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!! EEeeeek, I'm excited now!
We also managed to attend our first Banns reading yesterday, which was so lovely, and our local (where we live) banns will start next Sun, so all good!
I also got some bits and bobs for our table plan today, and will make it tomorrow and post a pic - I think it's going to be gorgeous *modest face*.
Sadly though, on our way home tonight, some TOERAG smashed in the back windscreen of our (hire) car and stole my suitcase, OH's suit carrier (with suit in). Lost all my wedding make up. People are so hideous sometimes.
Never mind, everything else is going well, so let's be nice and say that we hope the horrids who did that to the car are going to feel better soon and stop being horrids.

Was he just so upset he didn't think or was that not the first time he's given you pause for thought?
If it was the first time, maybe some talking time when you feel a bit calmer?
I am so sorry for what you're experiencing right now. Hugs.:grouphug:0 -
