Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 18th Jan. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Still damp & drizzly here this morning & definitely a bit colder.
All the usual jobs are done, breakfast eaten, packups made, fish fed etc.
Hubby spent last night working out the planting schedules for the garden, he has garlic & onions on the windowsils & will move them to the greenhouse at the weekend, the gardening bug has bitten him hard.
I left my crochet in DD's car so I've started a different project, I have 3 cot blankets to make, so have started the 2nd one, I'm doing them mainly in cream even though I know I'm making them for 2 girls & a boy as then they can be used for subsequent babies.
I hope you feel better today PP, hugs to all those in need.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good morning Hester and all to follow.
Need to have a good scrub round here as I will be at work for the next three days and will not have any inclination to be OS.
Bread made yesterday evening, so should be all right for packups. Moussaka was lovely yesterday and there is enough squirrelled away in the freezer for at least 3 more meals for us.
Meals for the rest of the week will be from the freezer - bean goulash with baked potatoes tomorrow, lentil lasagne on Thursday and freezer surprise on Friday.
Right, off to put wm on. Dark and damp here so it will be a td job later. Can't wait for the weather to be line fine:)
Hugs to all who need or want them, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Hellooooo, where is everyone? Are you out there? Very quiet this morning.
Dark and chilly this morning.
Quite a relaxing night yesterday after a hectic day at work, busy again, but I'm not complaining prefer to be busy makes the time go quicker.
Dinner went down well with everyone last night, my fish was lovely with jacket potato. Quick tea needed tonight as DS1 has cadets, have some leftovers in the fridge that could do with being used up will try to make a meal out of those.
DH has a meeting so I will be taxi for DS1. Watched a good programme last night on tv, first part of a Silent Witness, second part on tonight, at the same time as DS1 needs collecting from cadets, good job we've got sky+, have set machine to record it. Need to collect a birthday prezzie for a colleague this morning, my turn to buy the prezzie and her birthday is tomorrow, not at all sure what to buy but need to get it today, wine and chocs may be the best I can do, thought about smellies, but she has sensitive skin so lots she can't use, may look at candles etc. Need to put BM on tonight, will do that once I've organised dinner and pack-ups are sorted.
Once I've worked today just a half day tomorrow then days off.
Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.

Morning everyone.
Had a long day yesterday at work so aiming for a short one today. Got my home-made carrot soup in the flask and will add some shredded gammon to it later. Also taking another piece of the pizza quiche with me - the combination filled me up splendidly yesterday so LCing is going well, again!
Just need to get a few bits at the shops today, some double cream for coffees and some cabbage.
This cold weather is horrible to my face, skin goes all sore and dry so I've been lathering on some Dove face cream which I found at the back of one of the bathroom cupboards (in fact found 3 tubs) and it's being brilliant. If I can get organised early enough in the morning it just soaks into my skin ready for a bit of slap later. Happy face.
Bacon and eggs coming up, have decided that the drive to the farm shop is worth it for the taste alone. No more supermarket bacon or eggs for this house.
Cold and wet so woolly vest needed :rotfl: wonder if I've got any woolly knickers left? Are navy blue PE knickers still available? :rotfl:
Have a great day everyone.0 -
Morning all - hope you're feeling better PP.
Packed lunches made, milk and bread out of freezer, boys dressed and WM on. First day full time at work yesterday for about 7 years (due to having children). I hated it - I really missed out on my time with the boys, despite the fact that they would have been screeching or arguing all the time! Oh well, some one has to bring back the money. Got to dash. Hugs to all xxxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Hello again,
Gers could I please be nosey and ask what pizza quiche is? It sounds delish! Is it anything like cheese omelette?
Thanks, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Off to my sisters this morning & then to my friends for lunch.
Money wise this year I'm doing really well.
Am noting down everything I spend. Have also cut out the magazines, apart from the ones I get through subscription.
Am on SW again after a bit of a gain.Lost 2lbs yesterday at my 1st weigh in.
Love (((hugs))) & spoons all round

A early one from me today. Managed to wake up by 8.30am:o. My excuse is I am keeping to UK times so do not interupt my body clock :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:. Another here for Silent Witness, and then followed that by The Sculptress on ITV3, which was a 2 hour first half. So 1.30 am before we got to bed. Both were very good and the second half of each is on tonight, so will be a repeat late night.
Today will be what's left of the mince with a little mash and lots of cauliflower, Egg on toast for Brekky, as I find it keeps me fuller, and Crispbreads with a smidgen of cheese for Lunch. Using Xmas cheeses up, this one is one like with mincemeat it, but put the details and got the WW points, and managed to even 1 left yesterday, though not sure it is working, but will persevere for another week or so. Even said no to a biscuit when DH offered me one with my coffee:A
Looking rather overcast here atm, forecast is sun and cloud and 15C. Some rain on the radar screen for Friday, but too early to be certain yet. Not had any yet, so mustn't moan.
(((hugs))) where needed. Take care all. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club

Well done on the weighloss Mrsmortenharket!
Morning all!
Just taken the dog out for what should have been a walk and ended up as a swim, everywhere is water logged!! Also - you know in turner and hooch where the dog shakes his head slob goes everywhere? up just re-enacted that with mud instead of slobber all over my walls!!
OH left me a note to say he's had an emergency job to pull out a fork lift that's stuck in the mud, nice extra bit of money before he starts his new project today - that should last the rest of the week.
Lunch is left over lasagna again (only 2 more portions left though!!) Dinner is tuna pasta bake.
Got to pay in a cheque todayhopefully bills will all be sorted soon and we can focus on February. (or go to devon
)
Bet my OH i will be able to do 10 proper push ups by monday next week, currently i can't do any. So will practise that later too!
Have a lovely day all

Morning all!
Wow. Was sure I'd be on the second page at this time.
Been on some of the other boards asking a couple of questions and hoping I don't get shot down in flames!!!!1 Quite scary on some of those other boards.
I'm needing to get recommendations for carpet fitters in the Luton area, as I just bought carpets and underlay online yesterday. Also I was asking if it is cheaper to boil the kettle or a pot on the stove. Say if I needed a big pot of boiling water for pasta. I'm sure the answer is blindingly obvious, but I just don't know.
Going to try the Doris Grant loaf that was on Baking made easy last night. Need some nice wholemeal bread for lunch to go with the yummy soup I made yesterday. It's parsnip, ginger and sweetcorn and is very nice.
Dinner will be an Algerian dish called L'eish. Great on a cold, wet day, and very MS! Unfortunately I can't share the recipe as is made with little round balls of pasta-type stuff that I bring from Algeria.
Have a good day everyone. May be back on here later to lick my wounds if they are too scary on the DIY boards!!!!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

You can substitute Parmesan for the unknown/hard to find cheese. I made it the other week and have frozen it in slices.
Hope you enjoy it.0
