Bad for me too. Although I am just selling my clothes at the moment. Occasional single bids at low starting prices. I have made.... £10 this past week!! The only consolation is that I was aiming to do a carboot with these items and then I'd be lucky to get 20-50p per item, so ten whole quid is a huge amount . However, if I try to buy something, all these bidders go crazy and I never win due to high prices. Sod's law I suppose.
I just sold the most beautiful cocktail dress, which is too small for me, for £1.99. Serves me right for not starting it higher. Ho hum.
Strange, the same thing's happening to me: when I bid on something so do other people, but when I sell stuff most of it gets only one bid. I'm a little surprised that your cocktail dress only made £1.99, though. I'd have thought that would be the sort of thing that would be in demand for Christmas parties.
  • My ebay sales are terrible, I also have loads of videos to get rid of but there is very little point in putting them ebay is there?
Only worth eBaying if they're not available on DVD (and even then only certain videos are sought after). If the DVDs are available, the videos will cost more to post than they're worth, and you would be as well giving them to charity or selling at a car boot sale.
  • I have a shop and the lack of visibility is not generating sales. before the new rules people were in and out of the shop all the time, it almost stopped instantly the new rules were applied ( for higher charges I might add) i have put stuff on BIN but still not many sales to speak of. The fees are making it dire and also the people that are selling stuff for such low prices. My prices are not high but with the fees we have to cover it. I am selling the odd thing here and there and am thinking of shutting up shop after christmas.
    Good luck everyone.

    I know!!
That's why I started it low.
I also have a new black dress, perfect for Xmas which is not getting any interest. Weird. It seems ALL other dresses, unless bizzare, sell for 10-20 quid, I should know, I've been trying to get one. My listings are not dire either if that could be the problem.

In the good old days sales were very frequent you almost didn't have to list in auctions or BIN. Now they lowered the visibilty for shops it is their new policy. You MUST list in auctions or BIN to obtain that visibility. If you are selling higher priced items like a £20 it costs around £1 to do that. To add to that it used to cost around 5% they have doubled that to 10% when the item is sold, so the end result to reward shops for their business is to charge more money in listing, & sold fees. By the way I mentioned that it costs a £1 to list a £20 item, the sold fees for that are 5% whilst shops are 10% so for more money charged they give us less.

Have you any watchers on your currect auctions? A lot of people don't bid until the last few minutes. Then again, a lot of people watch and don't bid at all...
  • I think the thing that is worrying me is that on a health and beauty gift set I am selling, I have no watchers and a fairly low hit count. There are still four days to go, but I am not very encouraged. I am selling this as BIN or best offer and I pitched it at about the same price that I sold something similar (but with fewer contents) for by auction last week. I am starting to think that buyers might be put off by the price (which I think is reasonable) and don't understand the principle of best offer. If it doesn't sell, I might relist as an auction.
