Bit oftopic, but can I just say that I bought some as a source of Omega3... but then discovered that they are the richest source of plant Oestrogens. Being male, I don't really want bigger breasts.
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

Thank you so much for all of your ideas. If I was to add them to my porridge pre-cooking would that count as soaking them, ie if they went in the microwave with the oats and milk/water?
Or is sprinkling ground ones on better for you?

If you were to soak them, then cook them, they would produce a jelly like substance, which doesn't look very appetising as it is all slippery and slimy, this time of year, I feed boiled linseed to my pony, it is one of the best additives as it aids digestion, increases fibre and gives an amazing sheen to the coat. I am not sure if it produces the latter effect on humans though !!!

The oil is also used for treating cricket bats.

Use this dressing for any green salads.

1 Tbs linseed, soaked in 1cup water overnight.
    20 cloves garlic
    1 tsp salt
    1 Tbs honey
    1 cup lemon juice

Blend the above ingredients in blender until smooth, then add the following herbs and oil:

    1 tsp basil
    ½ tsp oregano
    ½ tsp majoram
    1 cup olive oil

Blend on low for a few seconds.

I can 100% recomend flaxseeds in porridge. Since starting this my eczema has improved considerably.
The way we do it is to soak linseeds over night in water then add to the porridge in the morning. If I forget to soak overnight then I throw them in the pan with oats to soak for half hour or so before I cook it - not as good as overnight though.
To ensure that they are also chewed a little I add a chopped apple and some sultanas to the porridge - along with some chopped walnuts if I'm feeling extravagant ;). Sprinkled with a little cinamon it makes a tasty, but VERY healthy breakfast.
Apparently porridge is also very good in the evening for helping to overcome insomnia..... (I was reding this thread on it last night.... http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/archive-lifestyle/complementary-natural-health-in-general/334309/

I have had them in porridge but add before cooking. It doesnt matter if they 'come out whole' as a previous poster mentioned - the oils will have come out into your system anyway. If you soak them overnight ur sposed to use the water (greasy gloopy etc... makes you poo;)) and discard the seeds.
Or swallow a teaspoon full washed down with a glass of warm water daily to keep you 'regular'.

the lignins in the seeds are just as important as the fatty acids

What are the lignins? This is a whole new world to me! Is that the fibrous part?
