Just logged in, but it came up with an internal server error.
Apple Care, have already confirmed it was my device they have, with my serial number and my imei number, and also say they have my address details linked to the phone.
They have even confirmed that Vodaphone did blacklist the phone before it went into the store, and have apologised that the repair/exchange took place, they have stated i must send a letter in writing to a place in cork in ireland, so will be doing that, but i fear in the time that this will be dealt with that the phone may be dismantled or sent to a company that refurbishes these unitsAwaiting Inspiration......................0 -
you purchased it from carphone warehouse, you could ask them for advice, i've always found them to be helpful. what about your bank? some accounts offer phone insurance.
i'd be going into the store which has your phone and speaking to the manager, with proof of purchase and IMEI number, then i'd go to vodafone0 -

I will try speaking to Carphone Warehouse tomorrow, I cant go into the store which has the phone, as Apple Care wont release any information.
Im not covered by the bank for phone insurance, feel a fool for now finding myself without cover for this I-Phone, and it costing 600 quid for a new one, although Vodaphone have given me a 50.00 credit on my account, to help me buy a cheap pay as you go phone to enable me to continue spending money on their contract, which i am now against making them money as they just pass the buck to Apple and wont assist in any form, apart from tying me into a 8month price plan without my knowledgeAwaiting Inspiration......................0 -

First of all, I sympathise with your plight and I would do a LBA to Apple and then MCOL them if the police are not willing to help. CPW ? They won't want to know and their advice, as this is a pretty unusual case, is probably not going to be of much use.
But I think you are off beam as far as Vodafone goes.
You write "Apple Care, have already confirmed it was my device they have, with my serial number and my imei number, and also say they have my address details linked to the phone.

I am not the greatest fan of Vodafone, but I can't see why you think they should assist you further and, in fact, I consider their £50 goodwill offer as being over and above what they needed to do. If Apple had not been aware of the blacklisting of the phone, then by all means they were negligent, but you have to be reasonable and objective and this appears, from what you write, to be completely outside Vodafone's remit.0 -

Thanks for your reply,
My issue with Vodaphone, is one of non existant customer service, I asked to have my upgraded price plan downgraded to the original plan, that i had only upgraded a month ago, and they refused to do this. They said when i upgraded my price plan i was tied into that price plan for 8 months, not once during this telephone conversation was i informed that i would be tied into a 8 month contract, else i may not have even upgraded the price plan.
My other issue is that they didnt block the imei immediately, they only blocked my sim card, so thats another issue i have with them not blocking the phone fully when requested.
The other fact is that they may not have been able to help as the phone is in Apple's Posession, but when i rang them and informed them, and that Apple wouldnt discuss this with me, they could have said okay we have some contact details for Apple, we can give you them, anmd you can get in touch with a team at Apple directly, but no, i just got a big fat sorry nothing to do with us.Awaiting Inspiration......................0 -
Does it make a difference if it's an iphone or a phone that is stolen?0
-
The reason why your plan wont be downgraded is because the higher costs an iphone brings with it. You cant expect to have a lower plan because you will be using a cheaper phone so your complains about vodaphone are invalid imo.
With regards to apple I understand what you're on about though.0 -
Its about time some laws were brought in for this kind of theft. Its happening more and more especially with high value iphones. These companys just pass the buck and send you round in circles. If you end up buying a phone that becomes blocked what exactly are you supposed to do with it ? Keep it ,sell it, phone the networks ask if its theirs, hand it in to police ive no idea.Im pretty sure most will say hand it in to the police but you can safely say if you do that you will never see the phone or your money again ...catch 22.
Sorry OP sympathise with you mate.0 -
The problem with all this is that the police couldn't care less. It might be better for the OP's sanity just to consider the phone lost.0

when i took the phone out i was on a lower price plan, i upgraded this price plan to get more minutes, months after starting the contract, not once when i called to upgrade did they say i couldnt downgrade for 8 months.
They also say that only some price plans tie you in for 8 months, my issue is that they should of told me that before i agreed to the price plan, after all i was enquiring at the time to upgrade to a price plan to suit me, and should of informed me of this minimum term price plan.Awaiting Inspiration......................0
