I have a question for the lovely flyladies.......

    Background:

    work full time
out doing charity stuff 2 evenings a week (this sometimes lead to a whole weekend every other month)
help hubby with paperwork for his business
try and walk dogs every day and as we have all put on weight need to do this twice a day (ducks avoiding those who take their pooches for hours and hours every day and is adamant that is how dog walking should be done)

How do I fit in all the cleaning???

    HELP! :o

    1step - I feel your pain!
    • I work full time
    • Im a single mum (recently got together with OH but we dont live together)
    • LO has activities four days a week after school
    • I volunteer for the local football clubs dealing with registrations and Welfare checks i.e. lots of paperwork in my spare time!!
    • I try to go swimming myself 2 or 3 times a week and go to the gym twice.
I try to fit in as much as possible like this...

Generally, Pigpen puts up the room for the day the night before so that night, or first thing in the morning, i put the hoover, cleaning stuff etc in the room to be cleaned. I go round, gather up and laundry etc and empty bins - but only on may way either in out of the room, I dont spend any longer than 5 minutes if its in the morning as we are normally getting ready for school (i.e running around like idiots!) Anything which belongs in another room, I put into a carrier bag and deal with it later.

When I come home, the laundry/general detrius has already been removed, so I can dust/hoover/polish etc

If its the bedroom, I strip the bed in the morning and wash it and then chuck it in the TD when I come home. I sort out the rest of the room and then put the clean bedding on last before bed.

I try to do the cleaning while tea is in the oven so try to get as much done in the 30 mins or 40 mins that I have... I dont always get everything done, but its more than I would have done if I had sat on my backside in front of the TV!

I then take the cleaning stuff and put it in the next room and have a quick pick-up declutter in that room....and so on and so forth.

Dont beat yourself up and if I need a night off...I take it! It will all be there tomorrow and I can deal with it when Im rested from doing housework!

I hope this helps and makes sense

    Jo xx

Just popping on to say hi and normal service will be resumed next week back to flying again

I've sat my exam this week so have been revising and I'm now finishing off an assignment to submit today for tomorrows deadline

Flying wise I've kept on top of things by tidying and doing some washing and bedding change

That's about it as can't spare the time to do much more alongside working full time too!

Should be back on track to get back in the flying mood - thank goodness and have a little break from this studying

    Hope everyone is ok

Well managed to get a whole load of washing and drying done, including all the bedding out of my camper van.

Just cooking tea at mo, and have hoovered front room, bedroom, halway and landing.

Hubby has constructed all our new drawers and I've sorted, flung and organised a load of my clothes. Our bedroom looks great.

We have a little more furniture shifting to do on the landing and some stuff to list on ebay asap.
Been a productive day for us.

I've been cooking again, been a bit 'not in the mood' for a while, various reasons, but a little bit is coming back so its nice to have the house smelling like a home.

1 Step, I can soooooo identify with your/our dilemma.

Another full time worker here - also with two dogs - and also with evening commitments.

Hence my house is a wonderful example of CHAOS!

I stumbled across the lovely ladies (and gents?) here by accident, and have rapidly reached the conclusion that they are a wonderful inspiration - and if they inspire me to shift myself to do one extra job a day, maybe in time that will become two, and ....... onwards and upwards, and keep reminding myself of the baby steps.

I am absolutely convinced that if I hadn't joined in, there is no way I would have got of my backside to start my RoD No 1 yesterday, and the encouragement that everyone gives makes me hope I will get better.

Still struggling to get beyond the dailies. Still struggling not to resent OH recreating hotspots in places I have just cleared - but I'm still here, still reading, still picking up tips, and am off to tackle an HHI or two this evening.

Oh, and yes, I too struggle not to resent it when I have worked all week, been out helping with things in the evenings, and have to be a Flylady instead of sitting down with my knitting and a good book. You are not alone!

Yes that is a huge help - thank you so much! I have copied your suggestions onto a word sheet and will have it to hand when PIgpen does her lists.

I think the guilt stems from my parents - everything had to be all sparkly all the time, everything put away as soon as we'd finished using it - get where I'm coming from!!

House blessing - I like that a lot.

    Thank you xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What happened to Thursday and Friday? - they disappeared without me having done anything at all!

Thank goodness for the weekend to catch up. (Although now Saturday and Sunday have just about disappeared without trace too...)

    Living room
    Level One- Done! :j
    Level Two - Done :j
Also Emptied and washed out bin

    Friday ~ Bathroom and WC
    Level One - Done! :j
    Level Two - Done :j
    Level Three
Only way of getting the blind clean of the black stuff that's working its way up from the bottom is to cut the bottom off and reattach the baton bit - that's my last job for today!

    Extras
Clean out the toiletries cupboard and put back the stuff you use.. and fling the stuff you don't! Do any necessary decanting so you have fewer almost empties! Make a note of stuff you do need to stock up.. and stuff you already have stocked up for 10 years! I have ridiculous amounts of bath foam and I usually shower (so am expecting to have ridiculous amounts for some time to come.)

It's feeling good. I'm on top of things for the first time in years and I'm no longer despairing about the things I haven't done as I know I'll get to them in the next few weeks.

As I've been busy cleaning DH seems to have become more enthusiastic about getting the kitchen/diner finished so it's all coming together a lot quicker than I expected. I may just have a home I'll enjoy living in soon. Can't believe I've only been doing this about 2 weeks - I'd never have believed what I could achieve in that time.

Thanks to everyone for motivating posts which are keeping me going too. Looking forward to next week again...
