Weekly Flylady Thread 17th January 2011

  • Hi everyone, Been quite busy so not posted for a while but have been lurking a bit.

Flying has pretty much gone out of the window the last couple of weeks for a few reasons. Firstly, because of my January Challenge. My target for January is to do my tax return and decorate DD2's bedroom. I am pleased to report that my tax return is done and DD2's bedroom needs one more coat of emulsion tomorrow, the curtain pole putting up and the single bed bring over from my parents.

The other reason is that my head's been all over the place as my dad has been diagnosed with prostrate cancer which has spread to his bones. As it has spread then he won't be cured, but he's starting treatments to make him feel better and prolong his life as much as possible. We don't know how long he's got at this point as it depends how he responds to the treatment. But hopefully it could be a minimum of a couple of years. So, I've got the job this weekend of explaining it to DD1. She's really close to her Grandad so I know she'll be upset, but I'll be careful how I put it to her. She's already got a bit of experience with dealing with things like this as one of her friends has a lymphoma as has spent the last 4 months receiving treatment and he is getting better (many thanks again for all the flylady positive vibes when I mentioned it here when he was diagnosed).

Anway, that's my life at the moment.

But I know there are people going through worse so I'll be grateful that he's still here for now and hopefully the drugs will kick in soon and make him feel a bit better.

Helenjelly....thinking of you and your family at the moment. Huge hugs.

Pigpen....once again KH lives up to his name!!!

    Welcome sophiesmum.

Anyway, DH is back from a very long day at the office so I'd better pay him some attention!!!

    Night night xx

Thoughts and prayers for you and your family Helen xx

Was in placement today and the teacher said (I think....cause it's all in welsh and I grasp bits of it), that if I wanted to go in any more that I was quite welcome(obviously!!!....but she has no TA whereas, another class has a TA, 2 students for 1 thing plus 1 student for another?????), so thinking of putting in a bit more time in there.........Will it look good on CV, cause it's all unpaid?????

    Just a thought............

I got to school to collect Tiddles (7 minutes late after Freja needed a fresh nappy before we could go) .. Anyway.. I sent the girls to get their coats and told them to sit in the hall and wait for me (I could see them and hear them) and I asked her teacher how Tiddles had been today.

She was quiet (unlike her!) and very very slow.. even for her.. she is desperately infuriatingly slow at everything!.. then she told the teacher what she had told me last night.. She also told her she thought this 'baddy' might come get her and her dad and me and Freja and Moomin (guess who are her favourite people.. I'm just glad I feature)

Tomorrow I will be calm and rational and I will ring FW and TELL him he is to come see her and tell her the police have got him and he is locked away and he, she and us are now all safe and it is all sorted.. I would have said I had caught him there and them and he was already in prison and saved all this mess.. I think Tiddles might be one of the most sensitive people I have ever met.. a complete anomaly in my family!

Once again I realise how lucky I am to have escaped.. Oh and his sister has a new hair cut.. she looks like she has been abducted from Lazytown and inflated to 4 times normal size.. DD1 and I have been howling at the pics.. Extremely b!tchy.. sorry..

OH's gran still hanging in there.. I don't know whether I want her to hang on until next weekend when we visit and he would feel obliged to visit regardless of his wishes, or whether I want her to be out of her pain and suffering.. and.. how do I manage someone elses pain and grief.. I don't know if I can do that adequately. I don't have the best social skills.. I may need help.

On a rather less depressing note my drugs are working on my neck.. think I have a trapped nerve or something judging by the pain so am slightly numb now :D I decluttered crumbs from DD2's laptop keyboard so she can now type 'I's Gremlins all depositted in their nests.. I have an extra and am getting another extra at some point tomorrow I think.

Tabitha is 2 tomorrow... how fast has that gone? so I need to pop a present round there on Monday.. a present I have not yet purchased!

DS1 asked gf if they could 'try again' and apparently she turned him down flat..

Cuppa, more drugs and bed for me I think.. and hopefully I will wake up calm, rational, painfree and after lunch :p

I would make sure I recorded the conversation.... Just a suggestion? x
It's well out of order- how he behaved, but, of course, it's not for you to judge IYSWIM... so I would make sure there was something either written or recorded to show your damage limitation of the situation that he had caused. xx

It's been a busy day at work (sa ever!) and I have been on the phone most of the night with various people

Hugs and coping vibes to both Helen and Sunnygirl not an easy time for either of you but know that we are here to support you both.

Well I for one have complete confidence in your ability to support OH through whatever the next few days/week throw at him. And as for KH words defy me!

I'm off to bed to read for a bit, thanks again for the support today and over the past few years.
