So sorry I haven't been around when I really intended to actually kick the flying into touch this week
Those that are on FB will know what's been happening but for those that aren't, or don't have me as a friend.. Basically Wednesday I developed some sort of weird thing that made me really dizzy and lightheaded, I had the sweats, was garbling - I think that I was delirious. I couldn't stand as everytime I did I fell over. I couldn't eat as I immediately threw it back up, and also had the trotskys and was dehydrated as I couldn't get to a drink, and on my own as hubby was at work in London. I was also extremely weepy and very frightened - very odd. And all my body wanted to do was sleep.. So I did that and let Dave get on with everything. Poor lamb had to fend for himself for three days worth of dinners - one night he cooked (defrosted something!), two nights he had takeaways..lol. I wasn't allowed to drive, go out or basically do anything - I didn't even get showered or dressed for two daysNow you all know me, I do have a shower and get dressed every day, but to tell you the truth I was terrified of falling over or drowning in the bath..
Thankfully as the days went on I started to get better and some of the symptoms started to disappear. I am now left with dizziness and light headedness if I do too much. Dr is stumped as it could be one of several things - Viral, ear infection (but I don't have any ear pain!), high blood pressure, overdose of painkillers or allergic to aspirin - as I did take a painkiller for a headache just before this all came on. Or a reaction to not taking my meds on time.. I couldn't even get to the Drs so we had to do a sort of examination over the phone - interesting as I apparently was garbled for most of the conversation..lol Weird thing my vision isn't affected at all just my balance, and equilibrium of the body.. Oooh posh word!!
Anyway I am still on no driving and no going out anywhere, but I am going to venture out tomorrow with DH to hold me up and see how I get on. I only have a few things to do today and then I have been ordered by DH to lay on the sofa and watch the trash on the tv drive..lol. Must remember not to bend over as I literally fall onto my head..lol

Helen - you just have to tell DS that it's all right to cry and ask questions - and let him know that he is still an important person in his grandad's life.
F-I-L who died last november had been very ill a number of times - at aged 8 DS asked a number of completely random questions about funerals ( like did they have bridesmaids etc) and we just answered every question as well as we could. Every kid copes differently with these situations.
AnW brigade - hoping you have a good time at the panto.
Two washloads done, one left to do.
DS off to work - silly s** went out last night without eating properly first. Looks very pale this morning - he is losing the plot at the moment!
Hugs/spoons to all who need them!:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
helen_jelly wrote: »Going to bed now - well I say bed what I actually mean is going to hit the sofa - DS is up with earache so given him some kiddies parrots stuff and a blanket and the 2 seater sofa but I'm 99% certain its not earache - its all about Grandad but DS refuses to talk about it, no idea how to handle it!! He's only just turned 8 and Grandad is a very very important man to him as he has had a carp relationship with his Dad and looks on DH as his best mate but Grandad has been there with him all the time.
Keep him 'in the loop' and tell him how YOU feel i might just get him to idenify his own feelings.. at 8 it is quite possible he has these feelings and cannot express them as he hasn't the vocabulary.. How do we learn that the massive pain is actually a big lump of sadness?
Show him a picture of a body and tell him this is he kidneys which are not working properly, these are the lungs where the illness started etc.. Tell him it is ok to feel these emotions and it would be wrong to hide them.. and tell him how you feel, worried, sad, tired, scared etc... withthe corresponding symptoms.. you are tired so your head hurts, you are sad so your tummy hurts for example.. it gives a physical feeling to he emotion. Mine said after KH left her tummy was hurting.. I said mine is too, it is just sadness because things have changed, but the tummy ache will go away and we talked about what would make it feel better.
Give him the tools and let him process it for a while.. he will come to you. Children first start developing empathy at about 8 so this is a critical time really.. but death is a part of life as is grief and love and happiness.
After dicussing the 'sad' bits.. remind him of the silly things grandad has done withDS and the funny things.. just a few memories to make his love the biggest emotion and the rest will follow in t#ime..LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
