I have a curtain hung over the door to keep draughts out, but it also tangles the door up - it is easy to slide it along the curtain wire from the inside but we can't manage it from the outside. It also prevents them getting at anything through the letter box.

I think the boxes in the hall is a genius idea - if they can't easily get through the house quietly they should surely give up and go elsewhere?

  • Can I ask how you manage to rake up the points on Toluna, I do all the surveys that I can plus the extra polls on the site and I am only at 40K points - is there something I am doing wrong??

well done on toluna, I am addict on there too and have ordered 2 love2shops and enough for another one when the surveys clear, seems they are taking longer now  I do topics and have been promoted twice which you get extra pts for too :) I think you might have got yours earlier as it wasnt the most popular love2shop ones. I might order debs next and treat myself or get my mum something :)

Are you still with Halifax? Have you seen about the refund some customers are getting. If you took a mortgage out between 2004 and 2007 and went to SVR before Jan 09 then you will get a refund of 1% oer month you were on 3.5% as it should have been 2.5%? I dont fall as I was too late - feb 08 going to svr feb 10 :(

  • Hi there pammy ;) - yes I've also managed loads of Toluna surveys over the past couple of weeks, just frustrating the points aren't going on as quick as they should be. Just checked today and there are 21 'open' surveys waiting for points - just wish I had made a note of how many points there were now, bet it will be an awful lot :D

I have not dug out the mortgage paperwork for the Halifax yet, but am pretty sure from what you say, that we would be entitled to something.

The original mortgage was taken out with Abbey May 04 for a 2 yr fixed rate. When that finished we transferred to Halifax - just can't remember the date, somewhere between June - Aug 06 and we were on a fixed rate I'm sure for 2 years (or maybe 1 year, then another 1 year, bit embarrassing I'm not sure until I check :o). When that finished we paid off a large lump sum approx £60k to reduce the term from 21 years to 10 years. I remember we had a mortgage appt literally the day before our wedding in Aug 08 and know it was def on SVR at that time...we had decided to leave it on that rather than taking another fixed rate product out.

So........with all that in mind, we were on SVR definitely from Aug 08 (if not a little bit before) onwards...so looking good for some kind of payout :T Our monthly repayment is currently £801 so not really sure what we would get  I kind of feel, I won't count our chickens before they hatch and a cheque arrives on the doormat!!

From what I've read it , its not a cheque but goes back on your mortgage. Good luck with it though.
I can't be bothered updating this anymore
