  • I was in a similar (although not as dire as yours) situation in October and I rang the child benefit and cancelled the payment into my bank account only a couple of days before it was due to go in, and they paid it into another account for me. If you don't have another account they might be able to pay you by giro on this occasion, or I think you can open up a post office account instantly so you could get an account number on Monday morning to give them. It might not be for you but I contacted an organisation called Payplan and they helped me enormously but getting me onto a DMP.

Have you talked to your health visitor about things? I know that some of them can be a bit patronising and you may not want to tell her your business but she might be able to sort out some kind of milk tokens or vouchers for you.

Good luck - hope you get something sorted out soon.

How about noodles, turkey and sweetcorn in a stir fry.

I sometimes make noodles (leave in the cooking water) and then mix sweetcorn from a can into it. Makes a nice noodle and sweetcorn soup.

sausages or fish fingers and mash

Cook and slice some sausges, with 250g pasta, add seasonings and herbs. Do you have some tomatoes or tomato ketchup / puree? If you do add it too the pasta and seasoning to make a tomato sauce. Its also nice served cold for lunches.

The same as above could be used for the rice just add different flavourings.

The pizza base (if you no cheese), mix tomato (i,e tomato ketchup etc ) add some herbs and maybe put some chicken. Serve with potato wedges.

Or add some of the batch cooked mince on the pizza base.

Use some of the mince for chilli (serve with rice or pasta)
Or make shepards pie mince, tins of beans and sliced potato over the top.

Not sure of these are any good but thought i would post them up anyway.

If you can try and get some dried milk and its work wonders. You can drink it, use with cereal, cooking etc.
If you can get to tesco maybe get some eggs and flour to make pancakes, omelletes, quiches etc

    Hang on in there!!

    hiya,

Our finances have gone array this month I dont understand how we've got in this mess but my bank have taken £120 out of the bank in charges and are charging me another £90 and rising charges for the "priveledge"

we've got £2.69 in my partners bank account which he has to use for petrol to work, but that will only get him there and back on monday!

i've got £7.50 in tesco clubcard vouchers but it is a £3.50 round trip in petrol and £2.07 in boots points.

Most of our bills are paid but we're rapidly running out of food, we've got no bread. milk is about to go, no fruit or veg, no youghurts etc..

but I do have some beans, cheap 7p noodles, chickpeas, sweetcorn 1/2 can, value frozen sausages, chicken nuggets, fishfingers a few potatos. lots of herbs and spices, a pizza base, a few chicken breasts and some batched cooked mince oh and some stir fry turkey cuts.

we've got one tin of baby food let and i managed to get two tins of milk with my boots points yesterday so that should last her the rest of the month.

I'm really starting to worry how on earth I am going to feed the girls, OH and I have some exante sachets so we will stop eating if we need too.

I've tried speaking to the bank but the staff are completly imcompetent and have now frozen my account untill the 1st of feb and wont unfreeze it, so I cant even get to the child benefit £33 when it comes next week. I'm trying to stay positive but i feel im about to burst into tears.

Any ideas how to make me eek the food out this month xx

Is everything listed food wise all you have in cupboards, freezer and fridge as can make some suggestions with what you have.

buy some tomato puree and some cheap cheese to make pizza plus bases plus herbs.

bangers and mash-any gravy granules or stock to pour over top.

    chicken nuggets and boiled potatos.

stir fry turley anyother veg to chuck in and mix with noodles and few herbs/spices.

Cook the chicken breasts and eat sliced/cold in sandwiches.

you mention tesco so check out their value ranges.

    I think you need

    bread
    milk
eggs-can make omlette, pancakes or scrambled eggs on toast.
boiled egg and soldiers kids love them

value pasta about 30-50p with passata or tin value chopped tomatos add herbs and grated chese on top-another winner with my kids.
    tea/coffee
    sugar
    cheap squash for kids maybe
value fromage frais approx 45p for 6
get bag of potatos as can make loads
big ones be nice to go with value beans/cheese
    tinned spaggetti on toast.
value chese spread similar to phili about 50p in sainsburys but most supermarkets do similar.
tesco were doing value babywipes 17p and value baby bath/lotion for 11p so was sainsburys.
bag cheap oven chips approx 1pound to go with fishfingers.
    butter
value stock if you need any
    value tinned soups
tin cheap tuna mix with sweetcorn and add to pasta with cheese.

    Bag value apples about quid.

known you said your rural local spar has 2 4pints of milk for 2.50
bag of apples , pears or other fruits outside for pound each
    sometimes mine has reductions.

Oh and i have a pizza base, i made a sausage pizza for lunch today which was a little different but the kids liked it, so will try another one of those i think.

I have a seperate cash card linked to my paypal account so will see if they can set the CB to go there instead on monday. Were already on a DMP with payplan and all the oh's finances are seperate to mine. i have no debt apart from this OD malarky but OH has quite alot.

I had to sign off for a bit and have a little cry and woe is me moment!

i think ive got enough "tea meals" for us for 5-6 days, but ive got nothing for breakfast or lunches. I have 1 bagel and 4 scotch pancakes in the bread bin and half a 375g box of crunchy nut cereal.

we'll be getting a joint account with the new one as i think thats why we've got into trouble this month our baby has been really poorly was rushed into hosptial so i've not been doing the swapping around money very well as we just havent been able too.

Tescos is out nearest supermarket about 13 miles away Morrisons is about 1.5miles furthur than that.

OH has got £2.69 to put petrol into his car which will get to to and from work on monday, He gets his wages on the last working day so on 31st and ill get my ssp on the 29th.

How old is the baby? I would use the potatoes and lentils for pur!es rather than worrying about buying baby food.

I've seen people post on here who have made bread out of ordinary flour rather than bread flour, so all you are really missing is yeast, if you like I can post you some over so you can make bread. I would be inclined to blend up the pots of fruit to make a jammy type spread for lunches to have on bread If you can get free eggs off your friend what about eggy bread for breakfast, or pancakes are very filling, we have them instead of potatoes sometimes, Omelette if you can get eggs. erm need to think for dinner.
