Hi, Do you bank on-line, did you see this coming, I go on my on-line bank account every day and if crisis is looming I manoeuvre things to avoid it. Please understand I am not criticising you, just saying did you not see this coming? and can you prevent it from happening again?

No had no idea, my bank account was in credit untill 12th, hadnt been overdrawn at all then 13th it was -£90.79 running balence and -£123.79 available.

Yes I will prevent it happening again i still cant get my head round it, the statements i see dont add up, i think they've made a mistake but the people on the phone are refusing to listen or dont know there a**e from their elbow. The manager in the branch wouldnt even look at the acocutn and just kept repeating that i needed to ring collections department. I dont control my temper particually well and under stress i have a condition that makes me look like im having a stroke. It knocks me down for about 4 hours at a time so i had to try and not get too stressed in the branch.

i've opened a new bank account and will be moving as soon as its open, also have an appointment with CAB next friday.
    Had my amazing little girlie 08/12/2007 - 11 days late! 9lbs 3oz
My second little girl entered the world 20/03/2010 - 11 days late! 8lbs 4oz
    Sea

  • If your partner is in work can he get an advance on wages? And arrange it so it doesn't go into the bank account?

Maybe worth going to the CAB for some advice, if you can get there?
Edit: Sorry just re-read your last post and see you have already made an appointment.

Many many hugs, again please don't think I am criticising but who keeps a running tally of the income and expenditure in your house, banks can't just go overdrawn, if you are not well enough to do it, can your husband? x

Edited to add, I really do hope your DLA comes through, that will help a lot won't it.

  • Lauren hiya hun, what Rosieben has posted is 100% true. Please take my advice and post this on thr dfw board. Im sure they will help you draft a latter to your bank or tell you what to say via a phonecall to them. They cannot take a state benefit from you
Meanwhile I wish you luck hun and keep posting. Were all here for you. Im nowhere near Norfolk else id have gladly of helped. I dont suppose you have any Xmas gifts unopened that you could return?

What i would do, in order

I would stop every last penny going into that account
Contact child benefit and see if you can access payment via giro or to someone elses account
Make sure employers have alternative account for wages
Contact the branch manager to discuss the issues
Contact local support including sure start, home start and salvation army
Put an advert on Freegle or Freecycle for unwanted food items locally
Meal plan what you do have
Www.adtrader.co.uk or https://www.preloved.com to sell unwanted/needed items, baby stuff goes well, baby toys, unwanted/needed gifts etc

Please only consider pay day loans etc if no other options, I feel lucky sometimes to have credit cards when this sort of thing happens but it's been a godsend for us. Take care and good luck.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • Lauren is Tesco your nearest supermarket? Please also list all the food items in your house one by one and exactly who needs what and we'll figure out some sort of plan. x
