hiya,

Our finances have gone array this month I dont understand how we've got in this mess but my bank have taken £120 out of the bank in charges and are charging me another £90 and rising charges for the "priveledge"

we've got £2.69 in my partners bank account which he has to use for petrol to work, but that will only get him there and back on monday!

i've got £7.50 in tesco clubcard vouchers but it is a £3.50 round trip in petrol and £2.07 in boots points.

Most of our bills are paid but we're rapidly running out of food, we've got no bread. milk is about to go, no fruit or veg, no youghurts etc..

but I do have some beans, cheap 7p noodles, chickpeas, sweetcorn 1/2 can, value frozen sausages, chicken nuggets, fishfingers a few potatos. lots of herbs and spices, a pizza base, a few chicken breasts and some batched cooked mince oh and some stir fry turkey cuts.

we've got one tin of baby food let and i managed to get two tins of milk with my boots points yesterday so that should last her the rest of the month.

I'm really starting to worry how on earth I am going to feed the girls, OH and I have some exante sachets so we will stop eating if we need too.

I've tried speaking to the bank but the staff are completly imcompetent and have now frozen my account untill the 1st of feb and wont unfreeze it, so I cant even get to the child benefit £33 when it comes next week. I'm trying to stay positive but i feel im about to burst into tears.

Any ideas how to make me eek the food out this month xx

Oh Lauren, that's terrible. I hope someone can come along and give you some advice, especially about the bank. What bank is it? Do you have family nearby?

    That is just awful Lauren.

Take a look at this site.... http://www.trusselltrust.org/foodbank-projects and see if they can help you - there might be similar local ones - I know we have one near to us altho I hope I never need to use it.

Remember to search any handbags/changing bags/down the sofa/all coat pockets/under car seats etc to see if you can find any loose change too.

Do you have any friends that would lend you a few quid until you get this sorted? I know I have a couple of people I could ask if things got bad enough.

Good luck and let us know how you are getting on.

(oh, and once you are back on your feet, maybe keep a reasonable storecupboard or emergency box with enough dried foods/tins etc to last a week or more)

That's terrible! Where do you live maybe some of us can help you out?
  • I don't know if you can do this but try phoning child benefit office to see if you can either get it sent to your partners account instead or if they can let you get it out at the post office?

were in norfolk, the bank is santander, ive applied for a new bank account already on advice from those at the loan board. There is a food bank in Norwich but we arent in the right district council for help :( I got very rudily turned down for a crisis loan by some ignorant t*sser on the phone.

were waiting on a decision from DLA for me and im not able to work currently. we will be back on our feet in Feb but its a nightmare at the moment :(

oh and ive also got 500g of pasta and about the same in rice.

  • Sometimes the health visitor knows some friendly churches or other charities that could tie you over with a shopping trolley full of goods. Good luck!
I never realized how much personal info is out there that can be used and abused to suit every purpose.
