Sent an item First Class on Ebay -Insurance...

Yes, quite so. I meant to say any eligible item. My main point was that the basic insurance doesn't disappear if the value goes over £41.
The odd thing is that people have experienced different RM responses to this. We have endless anecdotal evidence that RM have refused to pay out anything at all as the wrong service was used, there was a spate of problems only last year on the Amazon seller boards. Yet other people have persuaded RM to pay out the £41. I think the wording on the various RM sites could be interpreted in more than one way.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Just hope I will have nothing to worry about. But a couple of things have gone 'wrong' in terms of money this last week and I just fear the worst. Either it gets 'lost' or 'doesnt arrive' and I wouldn't have a leg to stand on... If that is the case it's a lesson learnt I suppose. Although I would fight as much as possible and not just take her word straight away.0

If buyer claims non receipt there is nothing at all you can fight and as you cannot prove delivery there is no point at which you can suddenly 'believe them' or not.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It's ok I have the phone number etc, I will go and find it myself if they say it doesn't arrive. It is to a shop so they should be there all day!0

How will you find it yourself? What if it DOES go missing, I mean REALLY goes missing?
For future reference, items ove £150 need to have online trackable delivery WITH a signature to defend a Paypal/Ebay claims.0 -
I mean I will find it in there shop and not believe them if they say it doesn't arrive. Not that I would, I was only messing.

I'm afraid that is right.
Many thousands of items are sent every day without full insurance cover. In most case this is a sound business decision. 99.XX % of mail is delivered and the vast majority of customers are honest.
Like most things, either you insure or you carry your own risk. It probably only makes sense to carry your own risk if you are sending large quantities of parcels when the law of averages must apply. If you are only sending one or two then there is a small chance of catching a nasty cold.0 -
You deserve all you get. You said special delivery was "mentioned", which means the Post Office asked the right questions. You should quit ebay.0

Deserve all I get my !!!!, what are you talking about. All I have done is sent an item for £11 something, only charged £7 delivery so lost out as it is, for the Special Del it was an extra 20 odd quid (I only had £15 on me and the PO was shutting ten minutes later). Don't see what I have done wrong, what a ridiculous comment. If anything its the Post office that has done wrong if it did go missing.0
