Congratulations Mandrose. I remember the thread and I was pleased at the support you got with your decision.
I applied for three jobs today, already had a phone call from an agency about one of the jobs, questioning my circumstances, previous wages etc and then told me they won't be putting me forward for this job but will keep me in mind for others. However they also quizzed me about previous interviews and which company I last interviewed with (I conveniently forgot their name!) so i'll take their comment about keeping me in mind for other jobs with a pinch of salt.
Good week so far for some posters on this thread let's hope it keeps up.0 -
Bit of an update from me. I'm now on the second week of my new job, it's going okay, everyone in the company is demotivated and unhappy but my job isn't terrible so it's a silver lining. I've been putting the feelers out on getting an employment coach job there (that's what the other people on my team do, I'm their administrator) and today I've heard gossip that someone has handed in their resignation. Sooo... I'm hoping.... (it's really quite well paid from what I hear)Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

I'm really pleased, I have an interview next week!! I originally went for a job interview at the same place in December but was just beaten to the job by a better candidate. When they called to tell me I hadn't been successful they did say they thought I interviewed well and were impressed with me and would keep me in mind if any further vacancies came up. I'm so pleased that they've invited me for an interview for another position!! Fingers crossed!!0

Morning everyone, another day!
Hope everyone is keeping their spirits up.
Good luck to anyone with interviews today, or waiting to hear back.
I had 2 rejections yesterday, I was ok yesterday, but feeling a bit unmotivated this morning. Going to make myself a cup of tea and try and plough through an application form.0 -
Feeling pretty fed up today... doing the usual daily 'run to the door when the postman comes' and 'obsessively check email and phone every five minutes' routine. Keep on truckin' I guess!
Hope this is a productive day for everyone and all the best to anyone with interviews
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.0 -
Well I had a second interview in London yesterday, had to travel down on the train and interview was to start at 2pm, with a director. The interview lasted 25 minutes (which I knew was the case with this guy, but expected to have to see more people), and normally I can "read" people (I have studied psychology), but this guy was like a poker player! Agency told me last night should know in the morning but not heard anything yet.
Sat staring at my mobile! Also had 2nd interview last week for another role, but not heard from them yet either0 -
Morning all,
Day three of not hearing from the Primary School, so not looking great there.
I've applied for two other jobs today though, one on Gumtree and one in the local rag.
I feel better if I'm actually sending off applications.
Tax Credit form being sent off today as well, (OH works) first time applying so its all abit new.
I know this isn't quite the correct place but I'll feel better for writing it, JSA-Contribution based runs out on 6th March, rather worried about that, have applied for JSA-Income based, fingers very very crossed that I get it.0 -
hi everyone, thought I would join the thread and vent a bit of my frustration out here.
Quick background, I'm a lone parent with a 17 and 9 yr old, no childcare other than my oldest helping out after school (no wrap around care where I live and all the childminders and out of school care full) I've also got health problems which mean I can't stand for long so my previous retail career isn't possible anymore
I've been applying for anything I think I can do for a couple of years now and only had a few interviews. I've been on various courses (all voluntarily) some of which promised a work placement so I had some recent experience and reference to go on my CV. The work placement never materialised, there were a variety of reasons given, but no help to me.
I had to switch from IS to JSA in November, wasn't to bothered by the change as I was already looking for work anyway and hoped I'd get more help and advice when on JSA. Should have known that wouldn't be the case after my past experiences.
Been filling the log book thingy in exactly the same way for the last 12 weeks with no problems, someone new signed me on today and apparently I've been doing it wrong I have to write in it every thing I do every day. Seeing as I have a huge list of job sites and agencies which I search every day I would fill the log book in every day if I did that, but there was no reasoning with her
While there today the advisor printed me a job off which I hadn't seen in my searches. Great I thought and as soon as I got home I went online to apply for it. Went to the employers website searched for the job....doesn't exist. Did a general search for my area and an identical job description came up but in an area too far for me to get to via public transport. So I phoned the JC and explained the situation, waiting for a phone call back to tell me if I have to apply for that job anyway even though I won't be able to get to it :wall:
Second frustration of the day, found another job with Lloyds been trying to apply for it all day but the applications part of their website keeps crashing....you had to phone jobseekers direct to get a reference code to apply for the job so they know I'm trying but if the website keeps crashing how the heck am I supposed to apply.
Sorry for the rant I just really really feel like I'm going round in circles and banging my head off a wall. I just want a job, I'm not fussy I'll do anything I physically can.0 -
How's everyone doing on their job hunt? I feel like mine is going from bad to worse every day.
I was at University doing Teacher Training but the uni wasn't for me. Completed one year, started the 2nd year and decided to transfer somewhere else. Transfer wasn't accepted as the new uni had covered more than my old uni so I'd have had a lot to catch up on. I have an interview in May to start at the new uni from September in Year 1. Also have my old uni place kept open as a back up where I could restart Year 2.
Applied for 6 Teaching Assistant posts, only had one interview and didn't get it. Now looked at Nursery Nurse jobs, applied for 3, none of the closing dates have yet passed so something may still turn up. Applied with an agency to do supply nursery nurse jobs but they've not bothered responding, emailed again 2 days ago and still nothing.
Signed up online yesterday with normal temping agencies to try and get admin work, no responses as yet. There are hardly any new jobs cropping up the last 2 weeks and there are over 500 people being made redundant in the town where I live. My last bit of student loan is running out and I'm feeling more bored and fed up everyday. Part of me wishes I'd stuck it out at the Uni I was at even if I did hate it but I guess we all learn from mistakes.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
I heard today about the job that I interviewed for on Monday- I wasn't offered the job as they had another candidate who had closer skills to the ones which were a priority in the role. I was impressed however that they contacted me by phone to give feedback.
Although the job itself sounded pretty good, I had concerns about the commute to this particular job, and the two which are now in the running are less than 10 miles of where I live. I was secretly quite relieved that I wasn't offered the job so I didn't have to make the decision about whether to accept or not! Is that a terrible thing?
Anyway, I am laid up with a cold today so I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the day.
It does however go to show that a phone call isn't always good news0
