Got an interview tomorrow morning. Only 1 problem, since the company originally placed the job with the agency, the hourly rate has dropped from £8.00 to £7.50. As it will cost me £40 p/w in travel costs, I doubt I will be taking it. After all, I will end-up £20 p/w worse-off (considering in my last job I was on £7.50 p/h with £15 p/w travel costs, yet only had £10 p/w spare, I would be a complete idiot to work for a £10 p/w income cut).
    Never Knowingly Understood.

    Member #1 of £1,000 challenge - £13.74/ £1000 (that's 1.374%)

    3-6 month EF £0/£3600 (that's 0 days worth)

  • Worked hard today on a list I had to send over to secure the interview for the job I absolutely want. Felt good, and I have been inspired by it, reminds me just how fit and ready I am for the job.
    God I need this one!
  • Woken up today with an email from an agency I emailed ages ago about a job I saw doing supply Nursery Nursing wanting my CV so really hope that comes to something. Be much better on my CV than admin or other jobs with wanting to be a Teacher, plus all my most recent experience is working with children.

Also had an email from another agency I signed up to yesterday about an admin job I saw and applied to, again wanting my CV.

Fingers crossed for the top job even if it will be casual hours but I feel a bit more positive now I'm getting replies and not feeling like I'm being ignored

Hope you all have a better day today as well :)

Was on another thread and just had a thought (uh oh!)

I am up for a job where one of the other applicants is really over qualified, and the job just too low paid for him, but he is going for it. There is real pressure from the top end that just hasn't ever been there before. I used to only worry about whizzkid youngsters who could beat my experience with their youth, depending on the company it was fair game, but I am now either stuck in the middle, or at an advantage for being just right, with the older applicants making me look younger if you see what I mean.

I think I am in a Goldilocks and porridge situation :)

Edit: The guy I will report to doesn't want the over qualified person as it threatens his position, but it is up to the MD who might himself be doing a mate a favour...

Been to the job centre this morning for the first of my weekly signings, they were as useful as ever!

I've applied for three jobs this morning, no chance of getting any of them but it makes me feel better that I at least applying. Anyone else feel like this sometimes?

Whilst I was in the JC I missed a call. Rang them back and have arranged an interview for the events organiser vacancy :j It's funny, I'm not nervous about this one at all, I'm actually looking forward to it. It's the perfect job (far from perfect ££ and hours though!) and I am really enthusiastic about it. I think enthusiasm is what the interviewers often look at more than qualifications.

Got my interview tomorrow too. First time I've ever had two interviews lined up!

    Hello all,

Have given up on hearing from the Primary School. :(

However, I've sent off two applications today so unwards and upwards.

Not heard from any others yet.

Good luck with those interviews Lexiliex. I have just finished signing on weekly and back to fortnightly, they couldn't find anything for me on their system today but then again most of the time neither can I.

Good luck with the job hunting today everybody.

    Hi
Won't be relevant to everyone but HMRC have quite a few contact centre vacancies on their website in different parts of the country.
    http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/jobs/cust-contact/index.htm

edit looks like most of them closing date is today- bl**dy job centre website is useless I saw this advertised TODAY. Had told my brother about it hopefully he'll be able to get an application in before it closes.

Well this time when my phone rang it was actually an Agency.

They phoned 5 minutes after I'd sent my CV through this afternoon and are putting me forward for the job I applied for. The job is more money than I was on before and closer to home.

Please let me get an interview, I really want this one...
