Interview at twelve, very casual, in a cafe, and all I have to do is be myself! Tell you what, that is getting harder and harder after months of trying to be someone else with my exact match tailored CVs and interviews!
Trying to see my nerves as mere beautiful butterflies
I love this job, I need this job *repeat to fade*0 -
Another "... unfortunately this time your application has been unsuccessful..." email yesterday
ah well, keep going I guess.
Congrats to those who have been offered jobs and all the best to those with interviews this week!
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.0 -
I'm having one of those terrible days waiting for the phone to ring to give me good or bad news! Interview was Friday but they were interviewing others right up until today, so they said they would try and call with the news either this afternoon or tomorrow morning! Its a job I would absolutely love, so I'm finding it very stressful, in fact my heart is pounding and hands shaking at the thought of it being a no! The only other thing in the pipeline is an interview on Thursday which I'm not really interested in, arranged through an agency that hasn't really listened to what I want - although I'm sure until I go to see the company and get the job explained properly I cant be sure.
Any tips on how to get through today? Do you think its bad news if I don't hear today (will the successful applicants get a call first)? I cant even concentrate on looking at job websites today, although I'm sitting with my laptop in front of me!0 -

Hi mandrose
If you are going to hear about the outcome on your mobile then I suggest going for a walk to clear your head and get some fresh air! I often take an afternoon walk when busy job hunting, and it helps so much.
I don't necessarily think it's bad news if you don't hear today- I was awaiting finding out if I had a second interview for last Wednesday's and they were slow to respond, even with good news!
I had an interview this morning - arrived latethanks to there being unusually bad traffic. Did run yesterday evening and it took 30 mins so I gave it 1 hour this morning. I apologised profusely to the interviewer and explained that I didn't know any shortcuts due to being new to the area. Luckily an employee of the firm came the same route and verified the problems in getting in that morning!
However in the circumstances I think I interviewed well and matched my experience to the job role. Just had feedback from the rec cons which was very positive though I won't find out until the final interview is conducted on Friday.
Does anyone have any interviews lined up this week, and are you finding plenty of jobs to apply for? I haven't seen much new come in but as there's three or four jobs in the pipeline at the moment that's enough to be going on with!0 -
:j Can't remember if I posted about this or not, but a couple of weeks ago my mum found out one of the women at ther work was pregnant. I sent my CV in thinking she would obviously be going on maternity and I've received a letter with the chance to go discuss possible opportunities at the end of the week. Not the perfect job, and not starting for a few months left, but it all sounds promising.0

Hi again, its not pleasant is itI don't think its bad news if you don't hear when you think you will.
I do know that a day and a half of waiting for us, is like a life time, but a day and a half in a busy office, is nothing.
I'm keeping that in my mind, I can assure you
I'm still waiting to hear from the Primary School, I went for an informal chat last Friday, and they had said they are interviewing this week, but I know the job dosn't start until first week in May, so I'm hoping (as I've not heard) that they are not hurrying to interview.
I sent off another application to Greenthumb, the lawn care people yesterday, closing date this Thursday, so I've still got something in the pipeline.0 -
I had an interview at 10 this morning for an admin role. At 17:01 I got a call offering me the job, hooray! I have a quick question... I'm not due to start until the 28th and I haven't signed anything yet as they're sending it to me in the post. Would you wait until you signed a contract until you resigned?
Thanks and good luck to all!
Well done:T
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Congrats sharloid! Well done. I agree, I would wait until everything is signed before I hand in my resignation.
I had an interview last Friday, and got the 'why are you applying, you seem over qualified?' Argh! I hate these questions, because you can never say the truth, which is BECAUSE IT'S A JOB, HAVE YOU SEEN THE STATE OF THE JOB MARKET AT THE MOMENT?! and have to come up with something about the company/work being so wonderful, interesting and challenging that I'm willing to commute 4 hrs a day and take a hefty pay cut too - I don't think they believed me :o
And breathe.
It's got to get better, right?
Hi Katkim,
I had the same comment made to me a few weeks ago. I said, "surely that just means you're getting a bargain." The interviewer seemed a bit surprised with this reply and although I didn't get the job I did get very good feedback from him.0 -
Hey all,
Hoping I can join your club!
Left my paid job last June, went volunteering abroad and came back just last week (money gets in the way of everything!!)
Now looking for a job... all my experience is Customer Service, Admin, PA work... but loathe to apply for that sort of stuff as I completely hate it. However I'm not sure what I do want... teaching assistant maybe? working for a charity? But I have little experience and they all seem to be 18 hour temp jobs.
I also want to leave the country as soon as, so maybe I'm better getting a job I don't like on decent money so I can save, finish my degree, do a TEFL course or something then leave in a year or two? But also been dreaming about full time study again for a 'proper career'??
Sorry, this post is as focussed as my job search, but hi everyone!!!!!!!OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0 -
Oh my goodness, I just got the call and I've got the job! :j
Start on Friday and I couldn't be more pleased!
Thank you everyone for your support and advise and I wish you all good luck in finding your dream job!0
