I would probably rather have the job I am starting Monday. They will let us know Friday but there was 4 people come for interviews in the 15minutes I was there so they are interviewing a good few people. I will struggle with what to do should I get that job as the only perk of that job over the one I start Monday is that it is permanent and a few more hours, it also means a not so great 45mins everyday of walking/waiting about for a bus when I finish.0

1 of the things I want from a job is to be recognised/thanked when I do a good job. 1 thing I hated in the last job was not being thanked for doing a good job despite me thinking I did but there you go thats the owner for you.
Yesterday I was asked to do a job I hadnt spent longer than 20 minutes doing since id started the current job last month and I spent the 4 hours I was there doing this job and I was thanked by my manager for doing a grand job. Today he asked me to do the same job again since I did a good job yesterday.0 -
I hope the interview went well.
I always find practising introducing myself helps calm me down - I find if I can get through the 'hello' part of the interview, the rest will follow. Sad really - many people practice the difficult questions over and over again, I work on being able to say my name properly!
What sort of voluntary work are you doing? I'm sure it will look good on your CV what ever it is and more importantly, keep you sane whilst job hunting! Good to hear you've got something positive lined up, even if it is unpaid.
it's voluntary reception / admin work for two charities. it's great to be doing something constructive and, as you say, it looks good on my CV so it's all good. i hope you're getting on ok x0 -

BUT... I have just been offered a job at my old place of work! I saw the personnel manager and she asked me to come back so I sent a form in yesterday and she phoned me today to say yes I could have the job! I start Monday 30 hours, 5 days a week including Saturday. So either way I have a job it's just that the one starting Monday is temporary/casual work so I may be unemployed again in a day, week, month, year, who knows and the one I interviewed for is permanent/contract. If I get the permanent one and want the job, I can still work at the one I start Monday for a few weeks as other one doesn't start til next month.
that's good news! :T0 -
I will be working 9-3 so good hours really, when I worked there last time (I have done this job before) the 9-3ers got 2 paid breaks and most of the time the supervisor stuck them together for a lunch for them. It's in a call centre but incoming calls.
My last job was for that company but in a different department where I was given no praise and just moaned at constantly, I hated it. You had to work in silence for 7 hours straight!0 -
I didn't get the job from the interview on Monday but I start the new job on Monday but it's temporary ongoing, as long as it lasts until at least Christmas I'm happy. My friend is moving over to that department too0

sorry about the other job...but at least you've got something so that's fab! :T0 -
Can't believe I am already 4 weeks into my internship...time is going far far too quickly.
Just praying I can somehow convince them to keep me on afterwards - really enjoying the work and a good bunch of people. And I honestly don't think I could stand another load of time doing nothing as even the weekends are bad enough!0 -

I know what you mean. Too many managers underestimate how powerful a simple 'thank you' can be. I'm really pleased you're getting some recognition for your efforts and your manager has already picked up that you've got a good work ethic!EndlessStruggle wrote: »I didn't get the job from the interview on Monday but I start the new job on Monday but it's temporary ongoing, as long as it lasts until at least Christmas I'm happy. Congratulations on starting a new job.Do you mean you'll be working alongside your friend? Work is always more pleasant when you have colleagues you like.

Sounds like it's going well - and if nothing else, you'll get a good reference out of them.Fingers crossed they keep you on, though! How much longer is the internship meant to last?
