Evening all....how is everyone getting on?

I've been rather fed up with the whole job situation but i think i've got an interview at the weekend, waiting for confirmation. I really hope so...i'm going to give this everything i've got!
  • Is this how it is now? We spend our time and money attending interviews only to never hear back unless we pry it out of them? What a damn cheek. So annoyed.

This is my own experience as well as others on this forum. Companies and agents are usually trying to do too much with too few people. Either that or they don't care in which case you would not want to work for such an organisation. They usually end up too stressful and problematic to work for you end up looking for something else. Just look at it as cutting out the middle man :)

  • Hello everyone and congratulations to the job getters and my best wishes to the hunters :)
Little update from me, leaving the job I got 6 months ago and start a new one next week. When I left work for the last time I had an attack of 'am I crazy' but my heart is in the new role - which is closer to home. It is in another industry which is amazing, but a scary learning curve.

Earlier in this thread you will see my struggles and I went to some dark places with my year out of work, but my career is hopefully back on track and I can look to my future again.

Thanks to all on this thread who helped me through, and all job seekers take heart!

Good to read that things are going well for you. With so much bad news around it just goes to show that perseverance can pay off.

So for those that are looking for work, don't give up. As Mr Micawber was fond of saying "something will turn up".

So, anyone got any tips on keeping the rejection blues from keeping you down for too long? I got two rejection letters this week, which is depressing, and I just felt like crawling into bed and crying - yet I feel guilty and panic when I'm not searching or applying. What do you do to switch off? I feel like I'm neglecting my family, which also makes me feel super guilty.

I was annoyed when i got rejections letters/emails as i knew there could have been something else i could have said or something i shouldnt have said. I just told myself it wasn't meant to be and to think positive and make a promise to apply for more jobs to keep myself rather than let the rejections distract me.

I was getting to the point where after so many rejections or no phone call/letter appearing that i thought i would be out of work for a longer period of time.
