Guys guys I need help!! I have a job interview tomorrow (they called me after I got rejected by a company related to them) and I am SO NERVOUS! I know I can do the job, and I am willing and can't wait to learn everything I don't know/don't have much experience with.
Also, it's an entry-level job (paid internship).
Please I just need some encouragement for tomorrow - being rejected for this position as well would hit me really hard!
Try pretending it's a mock interview rather than a real one - might help calm your nerves! Do some last minute googling tonight to find out about this other company, have a think about your strengths and weaknesses, come up with some examples to evidence those, iron your interview outfit, set your alarm and get a good night's rest. Everything else will follow.
Will be thinking of you tomorrow, best of luck!0 -
Morizot - you have given me some hope - I was self employed until September of this year when I was forced to go on the dole because I couldnt live on fresh air. I have been looking for a job since then and out of hundreds applied for had one interview but didnt get the job. I cannot do my self employed job because there is no work in my industry at all as no-one is spending any money.
I think it is normal to feel anxious when you start a new job - I know that I was and would keep a note book and jot down explanations of how to do things (each office would have its own system). I was always asking questions because if you don't ask then you don't know. It takes time to settle in and eventually you forget about the notes that you have kept about how things are done because you have ditched your stabilisers so to speak and are working.
Good luck - btw listening to classical music is good for the blood pressure and actually makes you concentrate more on your work.0 -

Be enthusiastic, keep good eye contact and smile. Get across as much as you can that you are open to learning new things and taking on new challenges - they're looking for positivity. Try to anticipate questions they may ask and prepare answers - not as hard as you may think as you can usually anticipate a few from the job description.
I still get very nervous when I have an interview, especially for a job I really want so I know exactly how you feel. However, the interviewers will expect you to be a bit nervous and will take this into account. Take deep breaths and always have that glass of water they offer you to hand, I use it as a kind of crutch and that certainly helps me. Usually when I come out of an interview I feel as if they've seen someone else entirely - I don't really feel like "me" if you know what I mean!
Best of luck0 -

I'm back to looking for work again, the company I was working for had no work for me through January. I am due to go back on the 30th as they said there would be work from another 3 months from then but we will see. They aren't overly reliable lol.0

Good news! My temp position has been extended to the beginning of June and with possibility of permanent roles being available at the end!! :j

Hi Everyone
I would be grateful if anyone could advice on the following query that I have -
I was dismissed from my credit control job in February 2010 (long story) and that is when I decided to study for a professional accountancy qualification. At present, I am studying via distance learning & not worked for 2 years. As a consequence of this, I am finding it extremely difficult to get back in the job market - obviously my dismissal is also proving to be a barrier.
I have over 5 years experience of credit control, but whenever I have an interview the employer's excuse for not hiring me is that I haven't done credit control for 2 years. I thought a person would not need to upgrade their skills for credit control - debt collection !! I have even applied for voluntary positions to become a credit controller, but it seems nothing seems to be available.
Can someone please be kind enough to advice what they would do in my situation, to get back in to employment.
Thank You0 -
Is it the amount of time since you were a credit controller, or the fact you were dismissed from a credit control job which is putting people off? Not wishing to be judgemental but if I was looking for a credit controller or an accountant, your dismissal would ring huge alarm bells. I don't know how you can get around that, perhaps somebody else has some suggestions?Make £2025 in 2025

Excellent thread that I've only just seen in the forum shrink.
Been temping whilst studying with only the one agency - unusual, but whilst they kept finding me work that was well paid and varied I didn't really spread the net when concentrating on my course.
Graduated last September and of course typical, that's when the temp work starts to dry up for the first time instead of getting busy, Royal Mail looks like a lucky escape, but I've found at least two other agencies to join - with no study in the way now, I have the time to look for full time work properly. I'm not turning my nose up at any work as long as it lasts. Three months would be the average so now I'd want to double that to six as a first goal.0
