As a newbie, it has been a pleasure to read a lot of the pages of this thread, although 'a lot' in my opinion, is nothing compared to how many pages this thread has!!
:rotfl:
it's great there's so much support - but scary how many are here.... and i haver to agree i had read every page as at my last post last year - but have only dipped a toe so far this time around...
i have just been tweaking my CV, and banging out a few cover letters.... (will have to get them in the post tomorrow)

So I have managed to apply for the grand total of 3 jobs today, and have requested application packs for 5 more (all based at the same place) and apparently they are paper based which will be good - my hand will be good and crampy by the end of those... was kind of hoping that as three of them are for really similar jobs i could just recycle most of it - at least the name address and qualifications bit....
i hope it's going well for all of you, and have a good evening to all.

I've had to resort to sending out speculative CV's via email due to not being able to apply for a job in almost a month now, I have to up my game, its clear jobs aren't going to appear on the job market, Sent out 4, 2 replied with the standard thanks for enquiring but nothing available and the other 2 I've heard nothing from, wonder what sort of success rate sending out random CV's get? Its almost my last option, last option being working for free as a trial and I am really considering it.0

it can be really disheartening, but at you haven't given up...
I've never sent out speculate CV's so don't know the success rate....
hopefully someone will be able to tell you their success stories of it....
i think that some of the die hard's last year had, and some of them got positive responses....
hopefullt it will start picking up soon after the christmas lull. xx

Have any of you folks tried Jobsite? Made a huge difference to me. If you upload your CV onto their site, and then make it available to recruitment agencies, they then start ringing you. In today's highly competitive job scene it's a numbers game, and trying to contact companies individually, especially if they are not even advertising, leaves you with very unfavourable odds. For me this was one of the key job hunting changes that helped me eventually find a job ... took me months before finally deciding to do it.Favours are returned ... Trust is earned

I went to sign up and it seemed I already had some time back, I have 0 messages from recruiters, again this depends where you live, I had added job alerts and I don't ever recall getting one.0 -
Thats all 4 of my CV's declined, I am actually shocked that these people took the time to reply to me so they are not all ignorant $hits but at least I know where I stand now.0

Chin up :j:beer:
I have been made redundant twice in the last 3 years the most recent being this month, although I have work until June before they give me the boot.
In 2009 despite having a degree and being a part-qualified accountant I was out of work for about 6 months. Doesn't matter who you are, background, education, etc it isn't great to be out of work.
Just keep at it, uploading CVs, pestering recruitment agencies, reading the local rags and you'll find something eventually0
