Aw thats a shame gemnjam - I would email for more feedback - no harm in asking! Worse thing that can happen is they don't reply!!

Got my feedback today - its completely different to what HR said and does give me some things to work on which is fantastic

Got a call today from the same company (its a global corp) but a different office - a little further from home but still commutable so hopefully as its the same company they'll be after the same things as stated in the feedback from the other position so really need to get to work now

  • Not posted on here a lot but I have found work! I start my new job on Monday with the company I had the big scary interview with a few weeks back. I found out at 4.55 on Friday so not informed the job center as of yet will have to give them a call on my lunch on Monday. But just wanna say thanks for the useful tips/advice and what a great thread this is as somewhere to vent. I wish you all the best of luck with your job hunts and what ever the future may bring!

Congratulations on the new job, I hope it's all you wanted. Your post reads a bit like goodbye, why not read the posts from time to time to offer some advice on your own experiences?

Just dropping in to say hello. :)

I've been in work now for just over 4 months - when I remember how hopeless things felt earlier this year, it's crazy. I've passed my probationary period, settled in and I absolutely love living in London.

The only downside, is that my OH is still up in Scotland and hasn't been able to find a job down here. We're getting by, but it's sad not to be living under the same roof and/or seeing each other every day anymore. I suppose the main thing is that he has a job, even if it's really far away from my one! In terms of our careers, it doesn't make sense for him to give up his job and find something non relevant down here and it doesn't make sense for me to leave this job so soon, so we're stuck apart for now.

Sorry to see a few old faces still looking for work, but also good to hear that some of you have found new jobs. Hope everyone is keeping well. :) Even if I haven't been posting here, I've been thinking of you all and wishing for good luck to go your way!

  • I haven't been by in ages. I have an interview today for a new(?) call centre near me, I think it's new anyways.. But I am a little nervous, I tend to fluff interviews up by saying the wrong thing but I will give it my best shot! I'm quite hopeful as the position has good hours and locations whereas the job centre are trying to force me into positions miles and miles away so this would be great!

good luck for the interview...i've got my fingers crossed for you! i hope they can see through your nerves...let us know how it goes!

i still can't find a job, i've started some voluntary work which i hope will look good on my cv, and i'm glad to have something constructive to do until paid work comes along. ideally i'd like to keep the voluntary work going but i'll have to see if the hours fit in.

good luck to anyone applying for jobs at the moment xxx

I hope the interview went well. :) I always find practising introducing myself helps calm me down - I find if I can get through the 'hello' part of the interview, the rest will follow. Sad really - many people practice the difficult questions over and over again, I work on being able to say my name properly!

What sort of voluntary work are you doing? I'm sure it will look good on your CV what ever it is and more importantly, keep you sane whilst job hunting! Good to hear you've got something positive lined up, even if it is unpaid.

I think the interview went well. I will find out by Friday whether I have that job.

BUT... I have just been offered a job at my old place of work! I saw the personnel manager and she asked me to come back so I sent a form in yesterday and she phoned me today to say yes I could have the job! I start Monday 30 hours, 5 days a week including Saturday. So either way I have a job it's just that the one starting Monday is temporary/casual work so I may be unemployed again in a day, week, month, year, who knows and the one I interviewed for is permanent/contract. If I get the permanent one and want the job, I can still work at the one I start Monday for a few weeks as other one doesn't start til next month.
