Thanks - thats what I thought but I just needed a bit of support for the idea - hubby just kept saying "whatever you think is best"
Sorry to be pain but I have another question I would like a little bit of advice on if people don't mind too much?
I have my eyebrow pierced and in a corporate environment, I think that some employers may take against this. To secure the right position I would happily take out my piercing but don't want to do this just for interviews in case i get a position where it doesn't matter (like i did last time i was looking for work)
If it was an issue I would expect them to mention this at interview e.g. We have a dress code here and it says xyz to which I would happily reply that it could go, but am wondering if its something I should bring up by asking if they have a code and then explaining it could go if a problem?"You've got to cut your cloth to suit your wassname" Terry (my Dad), 1944-present0 -

i'm ok...found one job to apply for today but it has been a bit lean over the last few days
pretty much yes it is what i expected, kind of helps i know some of the people there from working with them in the past, only downside is the early starts at 6(well get up about 5ish to get to work for 6) but i dont work sundays which is a plus. Its also helping that i know what im doing despite it being new to me (compared to my last job where i was pretty much thrown in at deep end and expected to learn the job(a technical 1) in a period of a month) but i am happier than the last job i was in. Its also helping the people i work with or most of them are quite nice and pleasent to talk too ( no1 arguing )0 -

personally? i would take it out for interviews then if you are offered a job explain you normally wear one and ask if it would be an issue at that stage. where i used to work it wouldn't have been acceptable0 -

Problem is I completely lack the dexterity to be able to remove it & put it back in so ince its out its gone really but I'm not sure if I'm making too big a deal out if it - if a potentiak employer didn't like it wouldn't they just say something?"You've got to cut your cloth to suit your wassname" Terry (my Dad), 1944-present0 -

ahh right ok, that makes it more tricky then. it really depends what kind of job you're going for?0 -

I take it that your fringe isn't long enough to cover it?
Good luck to everyone still looking, I started in the new job yesterday. I'm still getting my feet under the table so it's difficult to say how it's going but for a first day it was pretty relaxed.Whatever0 -

I think you need to ask yourself, what do you need more, the facial jewellery or a job? Personally I hate looking at facial piercings, it makes me feel uncomfortable, I can't tell you why, it's just instinctive.
Anything that could put people off you in favour of another candidate has to be avoided.

I looking for environmental consultancy/engineering jobs & have had interviews with some of the big companies e.g. Env. Agency/Atkins/Amec but have ended up with feedback along the lines of having all the technical knowledge/experience required but just not being the right candidate for some unquantifiable reason (for 1 interview I was the only candidate they interviewed but was still not right) and its making me wonder about things like appearance, manners and first impressions i may be making etc.caledonian_princess wrote: »Do you live near the person that did it? I had problems getting my belly button ring in and out when I first had it done so I went back to the shop that pierced it a couple of times and they changed the ring for me.

^^^^^Glad your first day went well!
I don't have a fringe - grew it out years ago! I don't have any more interviews this week so am thinking of going to a piercing place at the weekend to get a clear perspex retainer bar and asking them to put it in (which should look almost the same as if I removed it before interview as i would still have the markings on my skin even if I did that) - not sure why I didn't think of it before :doh:I think you need to ask yourself, what do you need more, the facial jewellery or a job? I do obviously want a job more than the piercing but I was on the cusp of removing it last time I was job hunting and then got my current position and found it was OK so I don't really want to pre-empt things and take it out now in case the same situation arises"You've got to cut your cloth to suit your wassname" Terry (my Dad), 1944-present0 -
I got told to expect a call back today for my interview I went to on Friday. I feel physically ill, my tummys like a washing machine! He made it sound like I had the job so I got really confident but I've had a sudden crash back to ground, so, so nervous, I want this so bad.0

Have been a lurker for a while, but thought I'd share my surprise from yesterday. Got a letter inviting me to an interview for a job that stopped taking applications in July! Can't believe how long they have taken, but I had assumed I didn't get it a long time ago, so was a nice surprise!
What sites do you all use to look for jobs? Find totaljobs and reed to be mostly sales stuff that I have no interest in.
Good luck to everybody with the jobhunt!0
