I normally say why I'm suitable for the job by picking apart the job description and rematching it with evidence from my CV etc. I just use it as a place to over emphasise my relevant skills etc which are already on my CV but it is easier to read when they're all in one place.

there is no job desc so cant do that, well everything thats relevant is on the cv in terms of experience

    Morning everyone.

Has anyone tried going to one of the job clubs and did they find them helpful?
I am after someone who could help me on my interview technique. Does the job club do this?

What about next step for techniques

I just got called from my interview this morning and offered the job! (The one I wanted!)

This afternoon's interview went really well too and they were lovely people, so I will be sorry to revoke my application when the formal offer comes through. Of course I accepted, but I don't know how to feel at the moment! I think I've been worrying so much and it hasn't really hit home yet.

    Thank you both!

They got back to me super quickly, I was really surprised! It looked like there was one internal candidate before me and at least two other externals.

I told DH I am definitely buying that Fiat 500 now :) The next few months will be tough as I have to finish my Ph.D. but hopefully worth it in the end!

    Cross fingers for everyone else!

hayleymoo - congrats on the job offer! :j

Got back from my second intervew a few hours ago. Feel a bit flat, but this was how I felt after the first interview. It wasn't what I expected, but think I answered questions well. Just not sure if I won them over with my personality, ugh, so difficult - when they say what do you like doing outside work, its hard not to sound boring or too much of a party goer!! I just said I was pretty normal; go to cinema, reading, eating out, etc.

The interviewer used to work for company I am now being made redundant from. She said these things usually work out. I said yeah hopefully, I knew I needed to move on anyway. She said something like least get decent payout to keep you going in the mean time... To me these does not seem a good sign? :(

It is between me and one other - and the interview will be tomorrow afternoon, so won't find out until end of week. Waiting is exhausting!
  • Heard back from job I had the chat about, not asking me in for an interview. Shame, has put me in a depressed mood but got lots to apply for. Really need a job aaargh!
