Boots have started advertising for christmas sales assistants, been rejected already! Got through the the online app questions but they are really hard to answer, they make you choose between two descriptions of yourself such as are you a) I prefer to work alone or b) It takes a lot to make me angry. Every question is a random pairing like that, which is the right answer?? Apparently the right answers were the ones I didn't select :(

yep i hate questions like that, the way a computer decides if your suitable or not,

Ugh, Disenchanted - so sorry to hear that! That's a bit ridiculous. I always feel frustrated if I am rejected after the online/written application as I never got a chance to sell myself. Grr, onwards and upwards for you!!

Morizot, glad you got some constructive feedback. I think it's always hard to sell yourself in that pressurised situation :( I appreciate the ones who let you know and give you good feedback too.

I did have one company give me feedback (lovely btw!) that I didn't have a certain typing qualification - this was just after the application form stage. The qualification they were after required you to type 35 wpm and I can touch type around 63 wpm. I know I don't have a piece of paper to prove it, but I would have gladly shown them in an interview!

    The search goes on!

Just got another rejection email, although I do appreciate being told either way. I am uber nervous about these interviews tomorrow. I feel like there's more pressure because there's a lot riding on being successful in getting a job, etc. and when you apply for a job you really like, you start to imagine yourself working there, your routine, even stupid things like what you'll wear and what you'll have for lunch. I hope my search is over :(

I have promised myself that I will buy myself a Fiat 500 if I get the job I really want :rotfl: Hope that works as encouragement!
In the process of buying our first house :j Offer accepted 22/04

    Hi Guys

I've got quick question about my second interview tomorrow. I have a list of questions that i have thought of since my first interview. Is it frowned upon to take this list with me? They are questions that I really want to ask, so just don't want to forget any of them. It's a fairly lenghty list - about 10

Hayleymoo - i know exactly how you are feeling about tomorrow. You can't help yourself but to think about actually getting the job, working for the company and the routine, etc. Good to think positive! Good luck for tomorrow
  • I haven't heard anything about the informal chat I went for yet. Going to wait til Wednesday and give them a call.

I don't seem to getting anywhere at the moment on the job front. Is not great at all! Hoping to get a job very soon as have started dating a lovely man and he has a good job, good pay and it is a pain with me being broke!

It is fine to take a list with you, not frowned on at all. An agent advised me on this. 10 questions sound about right
  • Well Monday has been alright today for the fact I've had 3 jobs to apply for.

However, it would be even nicer if the one's from the load I've already applied for would get in touch! Grrr!

Application form i have says "Please use space below to add any additional information, which you feel, has not been covered and which you would like us to take into consideration eg other training, relevant experience, any interests"

I was thinking about saying why I think I should be employed etc etc, would this be ok to put in the box.

Then ill have to write why i should work for X company when to me its a job that pays

I normally say why I'm suitable for the job by picking apart the job description and rematching it with evidence from my CV etc. I just use it as a place to over emphasise my relevant skills etc which are already on my CV but it is easier to read when they're all in one place.

    Morning everyone.

Has anyone tried going to one of the job clubs and did they find them helpful?
I am after someone who could help me on my interview technique. Does the job club do this?
