Best of luck to everyone as we start a new week.
It is far far too hot today..the kind of day where I have no energy (heat completely takes it out of me!)0 -
Another Monday and no interviews to look forward to
.
Going to do my volunteering so hopefully that will cheer me up.
Need to do some agency chasing this afternoon. Fingers crossed!
Best wishes to everyone,
TGWTARN
PS I have two suits - navy from Debenhams (dress and trousers) and black from Tescos. Struggling to find a decent white shirt though!0 -
Something so easy ends up being so complicated, im getting slightly worried now as next week i will be expected to widen my search in terms of jobs but what do i widen it too. Im already looking for jobs i can do based on my experience but so far not much luck.0

Same here - I've got no interviews on the horizon, even the employment agencies I registered with have gone quiet. I've been told by one of them to stop ringing them up as they will ring me if they have anything for me.
I can't wear a dark suit to interviews - I've got a skin condition which means that unless I wear pale colours it looks like I've got a really bad case of dandruff. I can't wear a pale suit because I'm the world's clumsiest person and I can guarantee it would be filthy by the time I got to the interview!Something so easy ends up being so complicated, im getting slightly worried now as next week i will be expected to widen my search in terms of jobs but what do i widen it too. I've been thinking about looking for something outside the area I have experience in. I was discussing this with my family over the weekend and what they said was true I think. You can more or less guarantee with all jobs at the moment that someone will apply who has the correct experience so really its probably a waste of time applying although, of course, you have to to keep the job centre happy. Can't win!0 -

yes thats the thing, ive no issue applying for other jobs i havent applied for before but theres going to be others who do have the experience,0 -
I'm getting so bored and desperate now I've started helping other people fill in their job applications.
One of my sisters is looking for a new job, she's never really done the whole application form thing before as all but her very first job in a shop she got through personal recommendations so when faced with the "tell us about yourself" part of this application form she didn't have the foggiest what to put.....so step in big sis who has done nothing but fill the bloody things for ages now :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
It's a good job I don't live closer to her or I would have been applying for it too, it's school hours term time only. I'd fight her for that one lol

Well I am still waiting on my yes or no phone call from Fridays interview, so much for him really having to make a decision.
At least I still have the Amazon possibility and I'm only couple fp weeks away from them starting the assessments now. That on the horizon is what's spurring me on because everything else is so quiet.
Also, could someone please turn the rain off and send us some of that heat wave everyone else is experiencing, it's doing nothing for my mood!0 -

Good luck 925dancer!
Apparently it's too hot for the trains here, so they are being delayed or cancelled - hope my OH can get home tonight! Maybe we could do with some of your rain - or would that boil the overhead lines?
My volunteering didn't go too well today.
I've also emailed an agency to find out why my application was rejected and got a reasonable response. I found out that I was rejected by checking my applications on the reed website. I need to get more experience somehow!!!
Hope others are having a better day.
Best wishes,

My Mom's school went through redundancies recently and their HR manager had some very interesting stats about the job centre website.
Of all jobs advertised around 60% are already ear marked for someone within the company but still have to be advertised properly. 30% aren't even real jobs, these are most likely to be agency ones who often recruit the same type of work so just want people on their books. That leaves only 10% of jobs that are actual vacancies which of course far too many people are all after.
Scary stuff!! Apparently the best way of people getting jobs is to mention it wherever you are, in pubs, bus stops etc if you get chatting to people. Often it's word of mouth of 'my work are looking for someone' or 'I know someone who works at xx who need someone.'
Don't take those stats as gospel as not sure where she got them from exactly but it does sound to me likely to be around those figuresSaved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

This doesn't surprise me in the slightest, I went for an interview recently and was 10/15 minutes early, and was sat outside the room, seen the girl before me go in and was out in about 7 minutes, could hear everything they were saying to her, yes you'l hear today, we want someone to start right away. I was in the room at least 20 minutes, because it was all long winded questions and then told, yeah you'l hear next week. I know that my interview went fine, so it's clear they had someone earmarked for the jobThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0
