Great prep for the interview though!
Spoke with one of the 'good guy' recruitment agencies this morning and he said the most-used site that recruiters use to find candidates is Jobsite.co.uk.
Thanks for this, totally agree on that the cover letter does prep you for the interview
Could you let us know who the 'good guy' agency is? Also I would be interested in finding out what the keys buzzwords are for my job (I am a Business Analyst), just wondering if there is anywhere where I can find this apart from the daily scan of job adverts0 -

Agency is Sandersons based in Bristol and operate nationwide. I won't give the name of the particular person as I think that might be contravening privacy. Re buzz words I guess it depends which industry you are in? There are plenty of BA roles in financial services at the moment due to all the regulatory changes.0 -

Thanks for this. Really hope you are right because I am in financial services and have oodles of regulatory experience (and I like doing this type of work which is great)0 -
After trying for almost a year now to find a permanent job I got one last week!!!!
I went for a job interview a few weeks ago for a job I saw advertised locally on Gumtree. I wouldn't have thought of looking on there for a job if it had not been for the suggestion of the MSE members. I thought it was a no go as the hours were all over the place and the guy who interviewed me didn't seem to have a clue what he wanted.
After the interview I gave it just over a week and not having heard anything back from him I called to say I was interested if he could at least guarantee regular hours and or days. He said he had gone back to the office and checked with the people working there and he said he could offer me 2 set days a week. It's only 10 hours in total, I am being trained up to poss take over from a woman who wants to retire and is only currently doing those hours.
Money is just over min wage, work is incredibly boring admin work, nothing to do with what I have done all my life and what I am trained for but I know beggars can't be choosers and I am incredibly grateful to have anything at all.
So now at least 2 days a week I get out the house for 5 hours, have a reason to make my self look smart and am finally getting a small but more importantly regular income.
I am hoping that it may develop into more hours or if I can stick it out for as long as possible it will give me a boost when looking for a more long term, permanent job.
Thankfully it's very local to me so I don't have to pay out a lot in travel expenses and I can work it round my kids school hours which is worth it's weight in gold to me at the moment.
So fingers crossed it works out!!!!!
Think I may post this on the main bit too may help those looking to try Gumtree!!0 -
I'm feeling pretty cross.
I just had a phonecall with my feedback that I requested from the ASDA interview and it's absolute rubbish.:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls
I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

Got my email back from the Amazon recruitment agency. I will be invited to an assessment which they're starting in mid July. So a bit of a wait but at least I know I've got that coming up if nothing else happens between now and then!0

!!!!ing job centre, closing my claim, just because my local job centre can't send off my payslips in time! They're so incompetent. This happened when I first moved to London, handed documents in, then they just disappear. I don't know why I bother to claim it, it's so much hassle! Thank god I've got a couple of days work next week.
I never want to claim JSA again if they stay this incompetent! They should be the ones out of work lol. I'm sure you guys here could do a better job!0 -
Well another weekend looming and I'm getting pretty bored with my endless holiday.
There has been nothing at all to apply for this week so much for all these `new` jobs they keep saying is about on the news.:(
Saw a couple of my postie friends whilst out on my 5 mile ritual walk this morning, how I miss my customers in the villages I use to deliver to.
Fed up and skint."Life is short even in its longest days".0 -
Just received feedback from my interview. I was pipped at the post by an internal candidate. I am surprisingly philosophical about the experience:cool:!
One phone call from an agent this morning regarding a possible vacancy and applied for two jobs (no cover letters this time as they went to agencies plus the roles were too generic to do an ace cover note). Two more applications to do this afternoon, than a weekend of research
One thing I picked up from the agent was that my previous job title does not describe what I actually did so will amend my cv again:)0 -
I got the job I had the interview for on Tuesday!!
I am so pleased, they rang me about 10 minutes ago and offered me the job. I'm still shaking! I start a week on Monday.
The hours are going to be 11am - 5pm Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
The best, best thing is that I get a free travel pass as a perk, so no more train or bus fares for me!!
:j:j:j:j:jThere is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0
