Of course there was nothing for me to apply for but there hardly ever is at the beginning of the week.

do you generally find that to be the case,

Whats the general consensus when the ad says to address the letter to the person by full as opposed to mrs hanson

I'd go with Ms Hanson still.
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.
  • It seems like some employers really like to mess you about these days. I've still not heard from the interview that I went for last Tuesday (this was the job that I was told I hadn't got, then suddenly I got a second interview which I attended but they hadn't prepared any questions and I hadn't got anything to say as I asked everything at the first interview. I had a different person interviewing me who hadn't even read my CV - the worst interview I think I've ever been to). I originally applied for this job in the middle of March!

I survived looking after my nephews. While the baby was asleep the 5 year old did his half term homework and I did my job searching then. Of course there was nothing for me to apply for but there hardly ever is at the beginning of the week.
Oh saxonrosecliff, it does make you wonder doesn't it? My friend went for an interview for an Office Manager role only to be told as she sat down in the interview chair that she was being interviewed for a Facilities Manager role; they plainly expected to interview her for the new role and yet she had to ask for a job description and a couple of minutes to read it. As she said to me later, how could you want to work for people who didn't even know what job they were advertising? Naturally, they haven't got back to her about the outcome of the interview and I suspect she didn't shine because she was so amazed that anybody could be so thoughtless (how difficult would it have been to mail her the new job description the day before?) or so incompetent.

    Still, it's all experience eh?
    Whatever

I am aware of the Wayback Machine too, but you have to know what you're digging for and it doesn't actually archive all of the internet. You just have to hope for the best!:)

I'm really nervous about my first day tomorrow! Really hope November's day is going well. :) I've decided that the butterflies in the pit of my stomach are better than the sinking feeling of bills coming in and no money in the pipeline to cover them. Am very lucky to be in the position where my stomach is full of butterflies - must remember that!:)
Good luck for tomorrow Persa, I'm sure you'll be fine. :)
    Whatever

Yes I do. Monday is usually really quiet for jobs. It picks up on Tuesday a bit but I would say that I find the majority of jobs that I apply for from Wednesday to Saturday.

I agree, Monday & Tuesday here are usually really rubbish. The council puts its jobs online on a Mon on Jobs Go Public, but that is all there ever is to apply for. Wednesday is jobs day so there's usually something to apply for, and Thursday is normally okay too. Then it all dies down again on Friday.

It seems like some employers really like to mess you about these days. I've still not heard from the interview that I went for last Tuesday

Having been away for a week, my husband chased up yesterday about the second interview he had two weeks last Friday. The agency bloke was all flustered 'oh I haven't heard about their decision yet, as soon as I know anything I'll let you know.'

The contract job others were being interviewed for last Wednesday which another agency bloke said he would sort it so it wasn't a problem for my husband to be interviewed later, he phoned yesterday (after phoning from Europe last Thursday and leaving a message), only to find the agency bloke is on holiday this week and nobody else knows anything about the job..........

Whilst away he was contacted about another urgent contract job, when would he be available to start if successful (next Monday), sent his CV in from an internet cafe. All gone quiet. Phoned the agency woman yesterday - she's on holiday........

    Arggghhhhhh.............

The job my husband was interviewed for and was told he is 'too textbook' for, now appears to be being advertised again as a contract position..... so it looks like they couldn't find anybody to work down to their standards. Ho hum.

And so the agony goes on
