I had a bad experience with agencies but I am aware that not all agencies are a waste of time.
I am qualified graduate and was offered three interviews last week from jobs that were advetised on Total Jobs. I found my previous job on the Total jobs website. I email my CV yesterday for a job on Total jobs and the company had contact me this morning for interview and assessment.
I was just offering advice on what seems to be working for me at the moment.
like i said it depends if your qualified as all the jobs i ever see on there are for qualified people so like yourself, i wasnt knocking your advice at all, good luck with the interview
i find monster the same as total jobs in that its not much use for someone who isnt qualified0 -

I might have asked this before, but have you tried LinkedIn if you're a professional grad?0 -
I actually found a job to apply for today, hurrah. They have been very few and far between! It's for Yorkshire Bank, working as a customer service officer in a branch in town and says full and part time applications will be considered. It was a very in-depth online application, I'm surprised they didn't ask my bra size. The pay seems odd...£12.50 an hour....is that normal for working customer facing in a bank branch?!
seems a little high but ive no experience of the secotr so i could be way off,0 -
No but I will try it.
Add all of your friends and relatives who work and soon you'll look really well connected and recruitment consultants in your area will get interested and make contact. I haven't tried Total Jobs but LinkedIn is a great site for someone like you. Seems like a pointless version of facebook at first, but it is useful for getting noticed.0 -
Total jobs is not a waste of time for everyone it depends on what part of the country you are in and your work experience.
I am in London and I am getting interviews from Total jobs so I am not wasting my time. It was just a suggestion everyone is free to chose their own jobsites.
Good luck with your application.
Sorry, I meant that it was a waste of time for me, personally. I'm in Leeds and there's never anything for me to apply for on there. My husband quite likes it though but he is looking for a very different type of job to me.There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
I have found one to apply for and it's closing date is 10th June, last job I applied for with them they had 138 people apply and that was just a receptionist role. I have sent my CV over to the agency too. They do temp work in my old workplace but everyone only gets 6 weeks at the max. Will see what comes of it.0

well today I have had 3 stupid comments, each one I have fended off to my immense satisfaction, applied for a job, showed interest in another potential lead, done two short training courses and cut a garden hedge. Going for a walk now. Was contacted about job at old place doing a job I am not skilled to do (but asked for job spec anyway just in case):rotfl:0

I don't even have children but my sister rang me in a panic this morning saying that her childminder had been called away on an emergency and being as I don't have anything to do (her words not mine) could I look after her two children so I am being invaded by a 5 year old and an 8 month old in five minutes (eeek). At least she works part-time and will be coming to pick them up at 3pm.
Good luck to everyone with interviews this week and also to those without (something will come along soon is what I keep being told).
I hope you mentioned that well actually you have loads of things to do, job seeking being a flexible but full time job, and that you are a really good sister to look after the two children. Have fun!0 -
Arghhh rant!
Well I got in touch with that company that I'm supposed to have an interview for tomorrow. On Friday they phoned me going on about how I was cherry picked and they were only interviewing 4 out of the 60 who applied, yaddy yada, making it sound all very positive. Then I never got the email that I was promised to tell me where and when to go for an interview. They told me although the job is in Cardiff the interview would be in Bristol.
Have tried all day today to speak to someone who can tell me where and when and only just (5 minutes ago) spoke to someone who went off and asked the person who should be doing my interview. He came back to tell me that she would phone me tomorrow with a time. I asked if that meant the interview wasn't tomorrow after all. He said that yes, it is tomorrow but I will get a phone call to tell me when tomorrow. I'm sorry but WHAT?! I don't drive so me getting to Bristol means a bus to town, a 40 minute train to Bristol then who knows from there onwards (as I still don't know where in Bristol it is either) probably taking about 1hr 30mins to get from door to door, I've never been to Bristol so would like to arrange my time and feel confident I know where I'm going. And they can't tell me a time until tomorrow!
It's just rude! They treat us like crap, leaving us hanging at any opportunity they can. I'm so fed up with it all!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
