    Arghhh rant!

Well I got in touch with that company that I'm supposed to have an interview for tomorrow. On Friday they phoned me going on about how I was cherry picked and they were only interviewing 4 out of the 60 who applied, yaddy yada, making it sound all very positive. Then I never got the email that I was promised to tell me where and when to go for an interview. They told me although the job is in Cardiff the interview would be in Bristol.

Have tried all day today to speak to someone who can tell me where and when and only just (5 minutes ago) spoke to someone who went off and asked the person who should be doing my interview. He came back to tell me that she would phone me tomorrow with a time. I asked if that meant the interview wasn't tomorrow after all. He said that yes, it is tomorrow but I will get a phone call to tell me when tomorrow. I'm sorry but WHAT?! I don't drive so me getting to Bristol means a bus to town, a 40 minute train to Bristol then who knows from there onwards (as I still don't know where in Bristol it is either) probably taking about 1hr 30mins to get from door to door, I've never been to Bristol so would like to arrange my time and feel confident I know where I'm going. And they can't tell me a time until tomorrow!

It's just rude! They treat us like crap, leaving us hanging at any opportunity they can. I'm so fed up with it all!

Totally understand your rant, very inconsiderate and unthinking on their part

Oh Drea that's just ridiculous do they want you to go and just hang around all day until they call you to tell you when and where to go? Is it a job as a spy? ;)

They don't sound very reliable at all. There's no way I'd be happy to only be given a time tomorrow. It doesn't give you long to work out where your going and how long it will take.

I've found 1 job to apply for and that's all. I'm taking a different attitude to it all now and don't spend hours looking. I know I'm doing everything I can so I don't let it stress me out now.

I'm meant to be signing up with Brook Street on Thursday but am unsure whether to cancel or not. I can only work part time and from looking on agency sites it seems most want people full time Mon-Fri. Has anyone had any experience of only working part time through an agency? (By part time I mean 4 days a week, not half days every day)

Maybe it is and they just haven't told me? ;)

I would be really annoyed too. I like to do a practice run for interviews to either check out parking or public transport so I am not late on the day. You cannot do any planning at such short notice!

I've found nothing to apply for today, although I have just rang JC about a job I found on the site that would be perfect for my partner.

I'm really starting to dread the Job Centre again. I kind of got used to it but since my last visit the thought of it makes me feel a bit ill. I think I have work, though it doesn't start til end of June, but I am seriously thinking about signing off on Thursday so I don't have to think about it anymore.

Lexilex, the JCP started to make me feel physically sick. I'd start to feel ill on the Monday morning (my signing on day was Wednesday).

They messed me about something chronic last week which didn't help so I signed off. I don't get any JSA any more so for my own well being I signed off. I know exactly how you are feeling.

  • I'm a bit miffed today.

I saw an advert in the local paper for a sweet packers job,not great money but part time and the right hours to suit.

So I applied and a week later gets a phone call to come for an interview.:j
A couple of minutes in and the shower cap pod person interviewing me says that all the sweet packers jobs have been filled but would I be interested in doing a supervisors hygiene role on the nightshift......now firstly I have no experience in hygiene apart from Showering and brushing my teeth etc and secondly it was a full time position doing a 12 hour shift that due to my ill health I couldn't possible do,think she was a bit miffed when I said ....could you not have just told me on the phone that you wanted me to apply for a different role as I wouldn't have wasted your time or mine!
The interview went really well and I'm hopeful of getting the job....NOT.

Wierd, you apply for a job, that meets your criteria, only to be interviewed for one with different skills and terms and conditions. The big question though is would you have fancied wearing a shower cap (would have been good on a bad hair day;))?

Whats the general consensus when the ad says to address the letter to the person by full as opposed to mrs hanson
  • It seems like some employers really like to mess you about these days. I've still not heard from the interview that I went for last Tuesday (this was the job that I was told I hadn't got, then suddenly I got a second interview which I attended but they hadn't prepared any questions and I hadn't got anything to say as I asked everything at the first interview. I had a different person interviewing me who hadn't even read my CV - the worst interview I think I've ever been to). I originally applied for this job in the middle of March!

I survived looking after my nephews. While the baby was asleep the 5 year old did his half term homework and I did my job searching then. Of course there was nothing for me to apply for but there hardly ever is at the beginning of the week.
