Have spent all day completing an application form (have a dreadful headache now
). I hate those forms that want to know loads of irrelevant things. But at least it's done now!

well the day put was kind of scuppered - we ended up in the local town where i have picked up some bargain bath mats and we had a chippy lunch...
however i have got an application form for the £ shop 15 hours a week. the manager who gave me the form was lovely.
i just need to find out what benefits I'd still get as that would be the whole income for the house - i'm single with no kids... although i suppose it might be the time to pick up extra hours over the summer but again i would need to see how that would affect benefits.:(:(
i'm gonna be gutted if i'd be worse off so i can't take it.

I am not sure what to do, went in and spoke to the agencies and they said nothing much on the admin side floating about but I could do some factory/picking/packing work while they try to find some, going to have to think about that as really not sure that is for me.0

I applied for a picking job at Asda a few months ago - I didn't get it.
I don't think picking would be too bad. I wouldn't fancy packing or working on a production line though. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
It would be in a factory. Not really sure it's for me just because I have trouble with my feet. I can't stand on them all day without them turning to huge bruises lol.0

Probably not for you then if it will cause you problems. Being on your feet all day when you're not used to it is bad enough as it is!There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

Hmmmmm when it comes to cover letters should i call the person Andrew? or Mr. Smith?
in the past adverts have tended to have only one name so it has made the choice for me....
many thanks for the input...

don't injure yourself for a job that you would have to quit in a few days - let the work go to someone else who needs the cash but isn't going to have to put their feet up for days.
it would also essentially be hobbling yourself if you were to get any other work or interviews.
bleuch that's a horrid answer...
hope there's something awesome out there for all of us. (to be fair by awesome i mean anything that won't physically hurt us and will pay the bills but obviously actually awesome would be better).

If it's an email cover letter, I'd put Andrew, if it's a letter to be posted I think I'd decide based on his job title if known and what the company does - if he's in HR and I was writing a letter, I'd have his full name at the top of the letter and then put 'Dear Andrew'.
I think these days people use first names a lot, even when you don't know the recipient. Maybe try writing both and see which you are most comfortable with?
Do the ads usually put the first name or surname?
Anyone disagree?0
