nowt wrong with that (the use of brackets i mean...) and is there a chance that you might be able to have the times of interviews moved so you could do me of the ones you might fancy??? PS while i worked for the NHS i thought it was against their policies to specify driver as essential - they had to phrase it as willing to travel as the role needs (or something similar - just say you're willing to use public transport (or taxis of they pay!!!!!)) although that might be different as the job is in Wales and they could ave different rules... it only came up when i got given the different role to the one that i had applied for as i didn't think that i could get the one i got as it needed a driver and i had thought ECDL which i didn't have at the time...
Good luck to all for interviews - i can't wait to get one...
i am actually considering just writing a silly cover letter for one of the jobs in the paper yesterday (it says graphic experience and knowledge of something i have never heard of would be advantageous so i don't really fit the bill) figured i might get invited if i made them laugh.... (or i might not but at least if i don't pour my heart and sole into it i might be less gutted when they ignore my application)...
i am having a day out!!!!!! my sister in law is going to be driving miss nimbo today!!!!!!! - she's taking me shopping with her and it's actually sad how excited i am by that... we are also having a pub lunch and sod the cash - they rebated the council tax that i paid while they were sorting out my benefits (i didn't want to stop the DD as they are rather fond of scary letters threatening court action, and i figured that would just depress me....)
so have a wonderful day all, and i hope that the job faeries are smiling on you all (or at least the cleaning faeries or i might have to get the hoover out tonight)

Yes, come to Cardiff
My internet isn't working so on my phone. I blinkin' hate Sky! I have an interview tomorrow morning so fingers crossed. Tomorrow is my last day of the temp job so hopefully I'll hear something more about the perm job they have been mentioning, again, fingers crossed.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
having technical problems this morning, my openoffice to word conversion appears not to be working. Tried to explain this to the recruiter who does not appear to be listening and just thinks I have a badly formatted cv. Anyway have got a third party to review the format issue. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
looks like my 'your fired' interview will be tomorrow as not all the parties are in today. Coincidently my namesake got fired in last night's apprentice0 -
Hi everyone, my first post on this thread! I don't know if this is allowed but for those looking for work just wanted to say that there is a vacancy for a part time Receptionist in a hotel in Raiham Kent (2 days minimum, can be more if needed). It is not yet advertised though, so get in touch with the hotel quickly!! Good luck0

Thank you Nimbo and Drea
Thought I'd checked the supervisor personal spec again.... and it definitely says "clean driving license (Boo!)"... However I didn't say I had one so maybe they are being less picky... To be honest, I didn't have half of the things on there... just the experience in cleaning and catering. Oh well lol.
Thought about fitting two interviews in one day but I'm not sure if that would be wise considering I would be flustered and panicky about one interview never mind two. Plus it would be a 6 hr round trip (Bristol to Stroud to Cardiff to Bristol).
Drea if you don't hear anything about the temp job becoming permanent today or tomorrow morning, you should try and corner the boss at 3pm tomorrow... not sure what you would say though... maybe on the lines of "hi boss. will you be needing me next week?". Worth a shot.
Have a wonderful day Nimbo0 -
I can't believe that after 5 months of job searching and finally getting a temporary summer job lined up I may have to lose it. I've been called for Jury Service and it starts the week of my compulsory training!
I've requested for it to be deferred but I really don't think they'll let me. I spoke to the people running the job and they've said they don't think it'll be a valid enough reason to defer. This will be the third job offer I've had to fall through. Why me? I'm gutted if I can't do it, I really need the money.
Guess I'll soon find out what they say.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

Poor you Stephthat sucks. Boo to Jury Service!
I really hope that they can defer your start date... How is Jury Service not a valid reason? Its not like you chose Jury Service... Jury Service chose you.0 -
Hello All,
Was feeling a bit low but now have an interview confirmed for next week
Going to go for a swim now to buck myself up.
Stephyt23, it's definitely worth trying to have your jury service deferred - can you ring them and explain the circumstances? Or email to try and get a quick answer? Hope it goes your way.
Good luck to everyone (with jobs and computers)!

Rant!
Am looking for full-time at the moment, as much as I want to get into journalism the bills need to be paid and money is nice. I'm being very realistic about my options and I have over two years of retail experience. I applied for a sales consultant position at a very expensive designer label. Walked in, handed over my cv and cover letter to the manager and thought nothing of it. Get a phonecall the next morning, asking to come for an interview on the Friday (three days to prepare).
I don't own anything for interview wear that really stands out so I ummed and ahhed and eventually found a friend who could lend me a stunning black dress, very 1940s and classic. Revised and prepared as much as I could. The Friday morning, I walk into the store to see everyone on edge. Not "we are at work and it's delivery day", but I REALLY mean on edge. I inadvertantly ended up chatting to the girl who was leaving who didn't even want to be there...not a good sign.
Get called into a large bustling cafe opposite the shop for the interview to find not only the store manager, but the area manager AND director of the company  What proceeded was the worst interview I have ever had. All three were completely dismissive of everything I had to say and my CV. I got told my degree was a waste of four years, and that I "had no idea how the real world works". I was constantly interrupted and spoken over, laughed at when I mentioned that I was a full-time carer of my autistic siblings back home (and juggled sixth form, two part time jobs and other things). They even made out that all I did was sit at home while my parents were at the pub! Overall a massive waste of time as I had asked for the day off at work to attend this!
Side note, have finally saved up enough money to replace my broken laptop! No more having to rush down the library and attempt to work under time limits of an hour0 -

Sorry I meant they don't think me doing training that week is valid enough for me to miss Jury Service. They definitely can't defer my start date as that's the only week training can be done as the school holiday starts the week after it which is when the main job starts.Hello All,

I did phone them and she just said I'll have to post it and see what decision is made. Hopefully I'll hear back quite soon.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000
