It just makes me wonder why they would waste all of that money advertising and then closing for the day to do interviews if they didn't have the funding to actually pay for the position in the first place!

What would you say was a reasonable amount of time to wait for an outcome for a job interview? I had one on the 28th April. As it was a large recruitment drive and my interview was in the middle of it they said I wouldn't hear until 13th May (fair enough). I still haven't heard and I've chased a couple of times (was told by the HR centre there was no update yet).
Should I let this one go?
I also had an interview on 3rd May and was told at the end of the week I'd passed the interview, but would go on a 'merit' list. I chased this yesterday and was told I may be contact in 2-3 weeks.
Is this unusual? Am I being unduly impatient?
I'm being made redundant in two weeks time and beginning to feel a bit anxious.

Well the manager from the place that I had an interview with two weeks ago has just called to say that at the minute they are struggling to free up the money to take on a new staff member (well why interview for it then), she did say that she will get back to me asap but as I wasn't overly fussed over the job anyway I can't say I'm that bothered to be honest!

On a plus note I have got an interview on Friday for a better job in a better location! YAY!

This really annoys me - last year when we knew my husband was being made redundant, he got to the second interview stage and the final two for a senior position with a LARGE bookmakers. About two days later he got a call saying that the person who he'd have been working for had himself been made redundant that day and the company was having a massive restructure and the job had been pulled.

Surely someone, somewhere in that company would have known all this was going to happen!??

Hmm I am not sure about this work experience. If I go for it I will probably lose my voluntary work, which is a better for my CV than the work experience, it's in the middle of nowhere but they are going to arrange for people to pick me up ??. If I don't there is probably some sanction with it, there pretty much is for everything. I hate the job centre.

Depends who the jobs are with. If they are civil service, the recruitment process takes a long time and you can often be waiting longer than you were told.
  • Can I join the annoyed people? I signed on yesterday and they gave me a job to apply for that was new on the system or so the advisor said. This job was exactly what I was doing in my old post. I got home and spent all afternoon making the application as good as I could, emailed it off to them and this morning at 8.35am I received an email saying that they were not proceeding with my application. They had obviously not bothered to read anything that I had written!

Also went for a second interview this morning. One of the people interviewing me hadn't read my CV so I had to sit there while he read through it, they hadn't prepared any questions and I hadn't got much to say as I covered everything I could think of in the first interview. I was in and out in 15 minutes and I'm sure I've really blown it by not having anything to say.
  • Actually found a job that was in my home town was the right hours and is pretty much the sort of job I'd know I'd like doing:j,so I rang them up...in the job advert it says to contact them to send out an application form to your home address, only to find out they want you to go into the place and get it yourself!

So off I walk as tomorrow is signing on day(joy of joys!!)and I'm skint to the other side of town and when I get to the place there are loads of people queing up all after the same job.

Anyways I think I managed to stand out from the rest as I pushed the door instead of pulling the door on the way out and couldn't figure out why the door wasn't opening....Ahh well.

Oh and when I finally get home and scan through the thing there's a big section on Your Health.,now do I be honest as it's not gotten me anywhere before or blag it?

  • I hate those health questionnaires and never know what to do for the best.

They might be one of those companies who make you sign a disclosure so they can see your medical record which means if you do blag it, you're busted.
