im scared to chase after commission only jobs, thats my worry,i wouldnt do door to door for windows etc, cos its something folks just dont want.
but i would do pre determined addresses to those that dont have tv licences, and ur checking to see if it needs one and what method the customer wants to pay, or predermined addresses for no payment of bills and your going there to advise of a payment plan.
these 2 jobs are ok as its customers that must be communicated with after no response to letters.
but cold calling for double glazing etc is diff, as you know that there is a great chance you wont get a sale as there is no reason for going apart from canvassing.
In the past with thatcher era, if u were on dole folk said thats only to be expected with 3 million on dole and jobs are rare and well done if u get any job at all.but today do they still say that with 2.5 million on the dole, or are folks snobs for saying why are u on dole, why r u applying for mcdonalds or pt time temp jobs or sales commision jobs.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. I wouldn't do commission only jobs, a lot of them are just to get someone working for free. I'd only go for ones that have a basic wage.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0

my point, but what if say one member of family is working full time and ur NI credits have run out and its jsa income based and u get told no jsa for u as partner earns too much.then would u do a commision job.
on a side note i recall seeing a tv drama in the 80's point me if im wrong and it was a roller disco set in future showing a digital display on a wall always changing min by min showing total folk in uk working, 11 million, not showing the total unemployed.
maybe thats a way future governments can promote themselves.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

i also recall at college during a course we did audits on companies loosing money and it was shown that wages was to blame as they had too many sales staff on fixed wages and the company was advised to employ commission only staff to lower costs and garauntee that the sales folk were working harder for their buck bringing in more sales and not relaxing too much cos it was a fixed salary.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. I think commission wages has it's place, but there are some commission sales jobs is just a big con - just chancers, normally with a poor product, using cheap labour in a punt.0

I'd rather have the stability of a lower wage - or even the small amount from JSA than take a commission-only job. When you rely only on your income, commission-only is too risky.0

yes, its ok if ur jsa has run out or ur partner is working then any extra dosh helps, even a commssion job.Christians Against Poverty solved my debt problem, when all other debt charities failed. Give them a call !! ( You don't have to be a Christian ! )

folks snobs for saying why are u on dole.
I got my eyes tested at the weekend, the optician asked me why I wasn't working  which I thought was really rude.
Good luck with your interview today Drea. NMW is better than no wage!
I can't wait to read this topic and see someone has got a job :j
Been making some notes this morning, matching my skills with those mentioned in the job description, notes about the company and a few questions to ask at the end. Going to have a break for an hour or so and finish getting dressedthen go through a few questions I may get asked.
I've said it before but I HATE interviews, when will companies start doing them by email, I would be much better at that, I am so much better writing things down then thinking up answers on the spot.0 -
Hi all,
Hope you're all doing well. Thinking of you this afternoon Drea.
I had my interview this morning and seemed to go well. The interviewer was friendly and it was a nice interview. I had a numeracy and literacy test as part of the interview which took 20 minutes, I panicked at the first couple of questions as they were which fraction is less and express the following as a decimal, that kind of stuff just sends my brain into panic stations but the rest was okay and I got 87% and pass rate was 75%.
I did get the dreaded words "You do seem a little over qualified" which always makes my heart sink but I replied along the lines that it means he'll get more bang for his buck. He did say there may be other jobs within the company I would be more suited for and would I consider travelling a bit further, I of course said yes.
I'm feeling a bit more confident after this interview than some of the previous ones but don't want to set myself up for a fall. I really like the look of this company, i'm sure I would enjoy working for them and that there would be a good chance of progression as well.
Here's hoping.
Best of luck to those preparing for interviews at the moment. I always find some deep breaths just before I go in calm the nerves down a little.0 -
Back from my interview, it went well! He has already told me he wants to see me again with his colleague for a role play so I at least know I impressed him and after the week I've had I just needed to know SOMEBODY seen something in me :rotfl:
Not the ideal job but it's something if I get it.
Stew, sounds good, fingers crossed for you!
Lexi, I've had all sorts asking about my work situation, I'm embarrassed to tell them I'm not working! Good luck for the interviewJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
