I guess I'm just not finding that to be the case. It's driving and speaking Welsh that goes against me :rotfl:Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
I've now been unemployed for 7 weeks, after being made redundant after 17 years in my previous job. So I know that's not a long time looking for a job but I seem to be doing the same thing every day - Job Centre website, Reed, Monster etc, bit of telly, facebook, and of course the days are all merging into one endless one. Seriously lacking in motivation now. Had 2 interviews, a few rejections. Job Centre saying "we probably won't see you again with your experience" and lo and behold there I am again 2 weeks later! I'm not looking for any miracle answers here, just a kick up the backside I suppose! I can't be ars*d doing much at all0

That's exactly how I am, but I've been looking for work since September last year. I've had the same thing said to me in the Job Centre, unfortunately I'm still going just to get my NI paid. I keep telling myself something will come along eventually, it has to!There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -

Something's got to turn up, hasn't it? I'll even clean toilets (no offence to toilet cleaners) but they want experience! It's a good job I have to get up to take my daughter to school otherwise some days I don't think I'd even get dressed.0 -
With both of us being out of work it would be easy to stay in bed late and not bother getting dressed but we have always stuck to routine - the alarm goes off at 7.30am and we get up as we would if we were working. One of my friends once asked me if it was too tempting to just hit the wine every night because you don't have to go to work the next day but I told her you can't afford to, in more ways than just financially! There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0

Anyway found two jobs to apply for today - perhaps things are looking up!
Things are looking up. I've just had a telephone call asking me to an interview next Thursday. Its for a Secretary at a land management company which will be something different as I've always been an Administrator before. I can't believe they've picked me for an interview as there must be lots of fully qualified and experienced secretaries about!
I'm quite glad its a bit of a wait as I spent yesterday clearing my mum's back garden at her new bungalow and I'm covered in scratches and got sunburnt (bright red) on my left side so I've got half a red face and neck and a red left arm! Hopefully I'll have healed a bit by then!!!0 -

I got asked if I wanted to go to Alton Towers last week and the person asking said at least you won't have any trouble getting time off work. A day trip to Alton Towers would cost me nearly a whole weeks JSA and I just can't afford it. In fact I don't do anything that costs money these days apart from what is absolutely essential.

No, people don't think and it is really annoying. I have had to say something more than once to someone banging on about 'their taxes' paying for the unemployed to stay in bed, and to someone who said she was 'disgusted' because their local theatre offered a discount to unemployed people. There is nothing better in life than writing on the sole of your slipper with a biro.....0 -
Got second round interview from Tuesday's interview! They liked some added skills I managed to lever in that were off topic
I have to do a presentation for the next one, so lots to work on this weekend. As I didn't get to give the last presentation, this will be a first. Hopefully my upcoming disaster story will be entertaining.
I was fairly happy with my interview this morning, the interviewer seemed a bit surprised at me, not what he expected. This could definitely go either way. He is supposed to tell the recruiter who he wants back for round two this afternoon, meaning I will be fresh in the memory.
I half knew what I was talking about all the time, or knew exactly what I was talking about half the time. *Head explodes*0 -
