Had anybody had much luck signing up with recruitment agencies? Think I will have to give it a go, but never been into one before so a little nervous about what the procedure is. Do you just hand your CV in to a receptionist or will someone talk to you more in depth about what you're looking for? Is it best to dress smart or would smart-casual be ok?

treat the agencies like a job interview, but after that you need to be calling them every day

i might have to start with the agency route myself since no ****** will offer me a job despite being qualified

    I am so FED UP!

    Snap!!

I've had a phone call from Next this afternoon to say I didn't get the job. I wasn't that bothered about getting it, in the sense that it wasn't the perfect job and I would be devestated if I didn't get it, but it would have been great to have some money coming in for now. The interview went fine, I just don't get it.

I'm in the middle of application form I have just had to copy over from a PDF file to word because I could not type on the pdf document.

Oh, and no reply from the agency I emailed yesterday.

I need to punch something :mad:

I'm just getting fed up with it all, I couldn't be trying harder. I didn't even manage to stay away from the chocolate today :(:p

I have a job app to finish for the 11th and just not feeling like doing it at the moment so will have a go tomorrow or even next week. I am on a 6 hour First Aid course Friday and will get a certificate at the end so something good to add to my CV.

I get so frustrated and fed up by it all, I'll read the job description, wow I'd love to do that, oh it's .... (outside possible travel area due to not passing driving test) or oh it starts/finishes at .... (outside possible travel times in area I can get to as public transport around here sucks)

I would love to do a First Aid course, so many jobs want it, in fact the application form I'm doing at the moment has a first aid qualification in the desirable criteria, I just cannot afford it though.

Do you know what I am sick to death of today. Writing the same old things in application forms. Explaining my excellent level of written and verbal communication, my ability to work in a team etc etc BORING BORING BORING!

I have wanted to do one for a while now and luckily the CAB have offered it to me as part of my training, I know absolutely nothing about First Aid!

Unlucky for me the First Aid Course is at the time I am due to sign on but I have a review appointment tomorrow and he is going to have it rearranged for me for before or after or Monday.

I've stopped buying the local paper now unless there is something in it. I know its a bit cheeky but I go to Tesco, read the adverts and put it back if there is nothing for me to apply for (this is a moneysaving site and it does save me money!).

I started my voluntary work today - assisting a tutor with teaching the internet and email (and possibly other computer programs) at Age Concern (or Age UK as its now called) and I really enjoyed it. I got home and there was a telephone message from a company I applied for a job at. I'd love to know why I get interviews for jobs that I don't really want but never hear anything from jobs I'd be good at and would enjoy!

I'm fed up as well and it one more person says to me "at least you can sit in the sun" I swear I will kill them. I'm fed up with sitting in the sun, reading, cleaning the house, applying for jobs and generally thinking what I can do next! That's today's rant over.

    Hello,

I'm another Lurker who has finally registered.

I'm trying to get back into the job hunting mentality as I got a job last month only to be made redundant after two weeks.

With regards to the first aid course have you tried looking on the St John Ambulance site - they offer courses for about £25?

    Good luck to everyone!
