I know I need to pull myself together but right now I feel stuck in a rut not knowing what I should be doing with my life.

I think it's all about finding a routine, which I am still working on after a month of unemployment.

When I was unemployed a few years ago, I'd spend the morning looking/applying for jobs, then have a break for lunch, then spend an hour doing an online course from the Microsoft website, then do an hour of Spanish, then go for a bike ride. Sometimes I'd fit some time in in the morning to do some interview practice, but depended how much time applying for jobs took up.

At the moment, I haven't got myself quite that organised. I just have a general plan of doing jobhunting Monday to Thursday, then spend Friday doing my Spanish homework/ practice. I usually go for runs 3 times a week, but don't really have a set pattern to that.
But I feel like I need to motivate myself into forming a more structured routine as sometimes there aren't any good jobs to apply for so I just apply for any old thing and then I feel like I've done nothing productive all day.

Only one to apply for for me today, halfway through the form, think I'll finish it tomorrow. I have just requested my credit report as am applying for some bank jobs and don't want any surprises! I hit 8 months unemployment today :( I wish I lived in a bigger town or could pass my driving test! At least my voluntary work is keeping me in the routine and busy.

So far i have had a good day.

i have only just sat down to apply for jobs as i have been rushing round.

the forms that i needed to get to the council before the 8th of May finally arrived while i was out shopping and signing on this morning so i had to run back to town to get them handed in, (however when i went back in the queue at the bank was no longer out of the door so i transferred my redundancy pittance...) and it will be good to have gotten extra exercise. :)

the job centre just handed me a job today - so i will have to apply for that then, even though the money is terrible.... (i know shouldn't be choosey, and i don't mind choosing to apply for jobs that i was qualified for 10 years ago, i just don't like to be forced... )

apart from that nothing much new here, which is a shame, but there will be tomorrow.

this sunny weather is making me feel more positive. :):):)

good luck to all for interviews, and i hope that the glut of jobs arrive for us all soon.

Big interview today, I am not as prepped as usual, no written notes, just winging it. There should be enough in my brain to get through I hope :)

    Hope it went well!! :)

I am ridiculously bored today and can't stop thinking about money, and the lack of it in my bank. :(

I found another one. Yay! It wouldn't let me put a covering letter on though for some reason. My bank balance is the healthiest it has been in months thanks to the tax rebate, is an enormously huge weight off my shoulders.

    Interview critique:

Looked good, wore the suit and my hair really behaved. Was relaxed.

Was given the golden opener, please take us through your CV, this should usually put you in the driving seat of the interview and guide the process. However, I was too detailed in places, without leaving enough openings for the interviewers. I got the dreaded arms folded and a yawn ten minutes in  Probably tried too hard to generalize my achievements (make them applicable to all situations). I was chaotic again by cramming too much in.

Liked both interviewers and could see myself getting on with my manager, but the person I was replacing was interviewing me as well (the one who yawned) - this is difficult, as they can be precious about their way of doing things and it is a minefield if you suggest how you would do things better. I did do well in being very light touch on that. So a tiny 'yay me' for that. However that person may still prefer less skilled than someone who might do it better, even though the whole point of the role is improvements. Tricky.

I could try and save the day by sending over some examples of my editorial skills (which we discussed), but this is not really the job...

End result: Neutral, focus on the next one :)

Hey everyone, hope you're all ok?

I haven't been around much for the last week, my computer has had to go in for repair so getting on my Mom's when I can.

Found a couple of jobs to apply for but nothing new added today.

It turns out i can claim JSA!! Wish I'd looked into it sooner but just assumed I couldn't claim due to technically still having a place open at uni. Been and signed up today and am signing on Thursday. Will be so great to just have a bit of money coming in. :D:D:j

    Evening all.

Just dropping in to wish you all the best for the job searching after all the bank holidays. I really hope that more jobs start to appear now that people are coming back to work. I'm still job searching but being a bit more choosy as to what i'm applying for as i've got guaranteed work and money coming in until at least October.

I hope you all start to see something happening from all your hard work looking for jobs.

    Morning all,

Went down to the Jobcentre yesterday, thought it would make a change from using the website but of course it didn't have any magic jobs on it that aren't online.

I did my second audio transcription file yesterday, the second of my 'two file trial' and tbh I'm currently waiting to get an e-mail saying I'm not going to get any more work from them. I struggled with the audio which was poor quality with lots of background noise, I did my best but I'm anticipating them saying it wasn't good enough. Will have to wait and see.

Good luck job hunting today everyone, and to all those with interviews.

    Kimberley

Edit: Looks like I might be OK for now...

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?
