Morning all!
Just finished my early morning trawl through the web based job sites, same old jobs, saying it's such a nice sunny day think I will hit the streets again..I love the smell of ridicule in the morning!:)
In other news I took the car for it's M.O.T yesterday and couldn't believe it actually passed first time...talk about shocked...my car is a rust bucket.:rotfl:last year i had to spend nearly £400 to get it fixed,so thats some money saved for a changed.
Hope everybody has a good day and you all find some jobs to apply for."Life is short even in its longest days".0 -
Had anybody had much luck signing up with recruitment agencies? Think I will have to give it a go, but never been into one before so a little nervous about what the procedure is. Do you just hand your CV in to a receptionist or will someone talk to you more in depth about what you're looking for? Is it best to dress smart or would smart-casual be ok?0

As much as I despise agencies they are coming through for me with interviews (it's just at that stage that I mess it up) and temp work. Best to give them a ring asking how to go about joining and they'll ask you what it is you want to do and what experience you have. If you sound good they'll ask you to come in to register which basically means filling in their forms and having the same chat you had on the phonewhen registering I always dress smart but to be honest, I'm never sure that's the right thing to do.

morning all - so far today i've been bored.....
there's nothing new to apply for so i suppose that i should send out a few speculative CV's...
gonna be a strange question - how do i begin?
i mean i would like to work at the cinema - never done it, completely over qualified (for the shop floor bits, not the cool interesting projector bits), the money would be pap but just fancy it so i figured nothing ventured nothing gained right?????
how do i then pick and choose places to send my CV, and is sending it electronically bad form? (i figured it would save on the old pennies, but then it's sooooo much easier to dismiss right?)
any help and ideas greatly appreciated.
PS I'm soooo chuffed - i emailed a complaint to a company last week, who as an apology i going to replace my pack of 10 over priced pens with a pack of 20 overpriced pens!!!!!! (i had a half price voucher, and was working when i bought them and looooove the pens and this is the first issue i have ever had with them, other than them running out which doesn't really count as an issue). and yes i know simple things, bat as i am trying to keep myself chained to my desk for at least a few hours a day while i was here i figured i may as well ping them an email.:):)

Another interview tomorrow, another tough one for prepping, although I have yesterdays mistakes fresh in my mind (no winging it!).
My heart is actually in this one and it is one of my favourite recruiters, he has given me a long list of heads up as he knows the interviewer well.
As far as recruiters go, I have used them almost exclusively for the first time (due to the large amount of applications most jobs seem to be with recruiters now). All have been nice, and helpful, some have been amazing, funny and morale boosting. It has been brilliant to understand how they work, and how I can make their job easier, I love 'em!0 -
I am starting to believe this is how my life is going to be forever, days spent watching daytime TV, applying for jobs I have no chance of getting and desperately trying to avoid chocolate.
This morning inbetween refreshing jobs sites I have cleaned, done some exercise, done a load of surveys, written a review. SO BORED!0 -
Yeah I am with you on that, I am starting to feel like there is no end to it. I really want a job but there is rarely anything other than kitchen, care, factory or shop work here and they aren't for me as the hours don't fit in with public transport and I don't ever hear back from shop jobs ever.
I think it is only my voluntary work keeping me sane, I got really lucky with it and is great experience and the people are lovely, I really wish there was a paid job there.
I am in a difficult position as I have a very good admin voluntary position that is great for my CV and I don't want to give it up for a temp job as the agencies around here mostly offer temp work that lasts 2weeks at the most but usually 3 days ish.0 -

I totally understand where your coming from. My school voluntary work is definitely all that keeps me sane, and I'm not willing to give it up for work unless it's for a job working with children. I even told my advisor at the Job centre that yesterday. He didn't look very impressed but I thought tough! It's the industry I want to work in so it looks better on my CV and is more valuable than a job not related to working with children.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -

I feel like that too, really didn't think I'd be unemployed for 5 months. It's the longest I've ever gone without work. The last time I claimed JSA was in 2007 and only needed it for 3 weeks.Saved: £1566.53/ £20000 -
