I'm just exhausted today, I can barely think straight so think I will do these applications tomorrow and over the weekend as they close next week. I pretty much just tell them what I think they want to hear lol.0

I am sat here thinking I have freaked a company out by letting them know why I wanted the job! Still, is it generally true that everyone love a heartfelt compliment?0 -
Hi everyone
I don't know what to say really... I have spend a good few hours over the last couple of days reading this thread from the start, and I just want to give you all a hug!!
I am not unemployed and I don't think I've ever appreciated it as much as right now! To see a group of such intelligent and generally pleasant people struggling to find work is awful... I had no idea the 'market' was so bad. Perhaps I have been guilty of disbelieving the media hype over unemployment and instead assuming all the jobless people were not interested in working, or maybe I've just not really thought about it in detail before, but either way I have had a big kick up the backside!!
I would like to wish you all the very best of luck in your search. One website I haven't seen mentioned is www.researchresearch.com - this is where I have recently looked for jobs as I have considered a potential change (its not just research based jobs, lots of stuff in the science/business sectors).
I had a conversation with my bossess yesterday about potentially employing a recent graduate to be my assistant / for me to train up. I had concerns that it would create more work (for me) than it would save... but after finishing reading this thread I am going to go back and say I want to do it. Its only one new job, but I guess its one less graduate on the dole and I somehow feel its the least I can do!!0 -

Thank you! That post really means a lot (I'm sure to all of us). There will always be those out there who just don't really want to work and are quite happy getting their £50 a week.
But I think this thread has proved that there are a lot of us out there who are spending all day every day applying, interviewing and generally getting stressed about finding a job! I wish more people would read itJust because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Agency didn't call back  Well the interview went really well. One thing I don't lack is confidence so I am sure that's a positive when your being interviewed. I did my bit so I can do nothing more.0

I have that awful feeling I am starting to come down with something, not feeling well at all. Oh well nearly the weekend. I am going to relax and get all these job apps done this weekend0

Thank you so much for your post - it really does mean a lot. I hate the stigma that goes with being unemployed and that names that we get called when all the unemployed people get lumped together. It really knocks your confidence.
Thanks again for your good wishes.0 -
Hi everyone,
I'm in a bit of a dilemma.
I'm sure most of you saw I had an interview on Monday for a Nursery job which I believed was for casual/holiday cover. The job on the website stated this is what it was for, as did my interview confirmation letter.
When I attended the interview it turned out it was actually part time 17 hours to work in the After School Club. I didn't question this as I thought the hours would be better and more regular.
I've just received a call offering me the job, but now it's for working between 25 and 35 hours a week. The times and days will vary as they are on a rota basis. Now while I know I should be thrilled to have a job I can't help wishing it was the 17 hour one. I do not want to leave the school I'm volunteering at. They are being so good to me and after Easter want to give me more responsibilities to help towards my Uni interview next month. The school experience is what I need SO much more than Nursery work which I've done loads of.
They are writing to confirm my job offer so my Mom has suggested I call them once I have that to see why the hours have changed. If I can't have the original job I was interviewed for to see if I can be guaranteed one day off a week so I can still volunteer. They know I am returning to uni in September to teach and that I'm volunteering. Do these two things seem reasonable to ask?
Congratulations! Hope you manage to get the hours you want.findingmyownway wrote: »

Can I ask what sort of assistant you are looking for? I'm a psychology graduate and you're not too far away from me. They do say if you don't ask you don't get
I've been out most the day, window shopping (so depressing!) but I am glad I went out as there's no jobs yet again. I've never seen it so bad0 -
Well the last iron I had in the fire has come to nothing. It was for a part time NHS clerical post, but recieved a letter yesterday saying that the post is now on hold due to unforseen circumstances.
There has been nothing to apply for for me all week, I have no applications pending now. Back to square one.'If honour were profitable, every man would be honourable' Thomas More

Maybe because of the cuts they're making in the NHS?
I'm on my last day at my job, have more work coming my way in a few weeks, so will be unemployed again for a bit. But I'm STILL ill, I kind of want a few days off to recover! If I took a few days off work that means they may have got someone else in to do the job as it's only temp work. It's hard 'freelancing' (even though it's not self employed jobs) because you can't feel like asking for time off when you're ill, unless it's a lengthy contract.0
