Maybe he really doesn't have any information to give you at the moment.

Still no reply. It was between me and another candidate. The person who interviewed me was supposed to run his recommendation by the CEO and I guess that could be part of the delay but I don't know why the agent wouldn't just say that? He was very good before the second interview at telling me what was going on behind the scenes and keeping me up to date. Very strange and very frustrating!

It could be a number of things so don't beat yourself up about it. The CEO may have gone out of the office because of some business/personal problem, they may have decided to defer due to some spanner being flung into the works from somewhere higher up in the chain of command. All you can do is be patient and keep pressing away at the agent.

Last but not least, and I'm only writing this to prepare you, they may be offering the job to the other candidate and are keeping you on "hold" incase they turn it down. I do hope I'm wrong about this so please don't take it negatively.

No, I agree. That possibility had already crossed my mind mainly because the agent is being so cagey. I had a feeling that if it was something as simple as "waiting to speak to CEO" he would have been more upfront or given me more detail.

I'm trying not to look too desperate by pestering the agent but it's really hard not being told anything :(

It's good that you are being realistic and positive about this. I hope it turns out ok for you. As for the agent, they don't matter too much. It's not as if they have the decision to make, only to relay a message. So don't be afraid to make say daily contact with them, of course hourly would be a bit extreme.

How's everyone doing with their searches today? There's still nothing at all for me to apply for which I'm surprised about. This is the first week since Jan that there's been nothing

  • Absolutely nothing to apply for today. Getting so absolutely sick of this now. The heritage centre I volunteered to work at are now ignoring my emails and frankly I just want to lock myself in a room and scream.

    Shall we scream together??

It's so bad when we're offering our time for free and they won't reply. I've had the same thing with Brownies. I've emailed twice and never got a response. Applied to volunteer as an Administrator at an equestrian centre that works with disabled children and have heard nothing from them either.

Also going to have to cancel one of my agency interviews. Unlike most they want me to pay for my own CRB (most pay it for you) and I just haven't got £44 to spend, especially when there's no guarantee of work.

It's been very poor this week for my husband's job search. He's just waiting on confirmation of a time of day for an interview to be set up for next week - that's taken two weeks to arrange.

We thought there might be a hint of some contract work from a couple of agencies, but having got him interested, the agencies are both being evasive. Ho hum.
