  • I was at my sister's house last night looking after my nephew aged 14 while they went out. We were talking about the situation in this country at the moment and I found it so sad that a 14 year old was worrying about whether he would be able to go to university (he wants to be a physiotherpist) due to the money situation. I told him that hopefully things will be better by then. We then got on to the job situation and he said to me "just think - each day that passes means you are a day closer to getting a job". I think that is the most positive thing that anyone has ever said to me, from a 14 year old as well.

So remember every day that passes means you are a day closer to getting a job!

    :T:T CONGRATULATIONS VINCE!!!!!!!!! :j:j

    That is fantastic news!

I've had confirmation of my Uni interview through this morning, time to get swatting up! :D

Also got 2 interviews lined up at agencies, one this month, one in May. Both are for the Child Care and Education sectors so hopefully they will get me more work than the one I'm currently with then I can ditch them. :D

awwww bless him!! That is really sad that at his age he's already worrying about whether he can go to uni or not. Putting up the fees really was the worst decision.

Congrats Vince! What fab news :j It's great to hear something positive.

I am having another 'I want to scream' day. I haven't heard anything from anywhere in two weeks! I'm waiting to hear back on 20+ applications I've made in the last couple of weeks. Even a rejection would be better than nothing. I just want a phone call, or letter, or email, just something! I even sent myself an email earlier just to check my applications are getting through and there isn't something up. AARGH :o

Just wrote a very tricky email offering to 'prove my value' (work for free).
It's a job in a brand new industry through an old contact. I know my skills transfer so I am just relying on the guy to see the opportunity of molding me to his specifications. The industry is so new there is not a lot of people in it, so training me is more of an option then it would be normally.

Fingers really crossed as this would be a career blaster which I know I'm good for. I worry that an offer to work for free can ultimately devalue you.
I know he is a risk taker...

It has made my interview on Friday for something else a bit dull unfortunately, and I really need to cram up on the company for that..

Still really disappointed I didn't get that job, it seemed so perfect for me :( I've offered to volunteer for them if they ever need it. He did say my interview was fantastic, he said he usually likes to give constructive criticism so that people have something to work on but he had none for me, which is positive. It's just a shame the other person had managerial skills!!

Ah well, onwards and upwards. Back to square one.

Just got a phone call and I have another interview for next week. It's quite hard to get to so would need to step up my driving lessons, but if the interview tomorrow goes well then I wont have to worry about that.

I posted a seperate thread last Friday regarding a second interview I had but thought this might be a good thread to get some advice/opinion/just vent.

I was expecting to hear back on Monday and called the agent at 3 pm. He sounded cagey and said he was due to speak to the comoany shortly and will know later in the day. I didn't hear back from the agent until midday yesterday when he sent an e mail saying. "sorry for lack of response will get back to you asap". I left it till the end of the day then e mailed back and asked if he knew what the delay was. Still no reply. It was between me and another candidate. The person who interviewed me was supposed to run his recommendation by the CEO and I guess that could be part of the delay but I don't know why the agent wouldn't just say that? He was very good before the second interview at telling me what was going on behind the scenes and keeping me up to date. Very strange and very frustrating!
