i think we're all intelligent enough to not do that0 -

I personally have no options BUT to use agencies. I have walked into countless warehouses asking if they have any vacancies and every single one of them tell me that they use agencies to recruit people for them. All I can do is sign upto agencies and hope to get a deal from one of them.0 -
Just applied for a chamber person job at a pub about 2 miles away - "Must have previous experience in a similar role. Must be flexible. Duties will include cleaning of hotel bedrooms to a high standard, occasional pub restaurant cleaning and breakfast service. ."
Sounds good! 30+ hours a week, 7am-1pm, exceeds minimum wage.
Fingers crossed guys and gals! :beer:Wins so far 2011: L'Occitane Rose 4 Reins = £130 -

all i said was that everyone is intelligent not to put eggs in 1 basket although i cant speak for everyone else but ill take a temp job(via agency) until something more permanent comes along
i never said your help wasnt required, in fact you other idea seemed ok,0 -
Lexilex,
That is a good idea, I was wondering how we could take it forward and have a suggestion. I designed and run a website for our church, I could create a page on there where I could paste our cvs onto (with personal information removed). I can protect the page so that only those with the password could access it (I could limit the password to only those of us with cv's on the site). I'm not sure how we could comment on the cv's without coming back to this site without having to link people's email addresses on the site (which I could do without showing the actual email address) but of course only those of us with access would see the links.
The website doesn't sell anything so this isn't a scam to get you to buy anything, you would have to email your cv's to me for me to put on the site and I promise I wouldn't do anything with your email addresses.
Let me know what you think, i'm happy to put this together (I have some spare time for some reason :rotfl:). I'm going out to the gym for a couple of hours but i'll be popping back in later.
Good luck today all.November5th wrote: »How about a google group or a private blog format Stew? Each posted CV would ba available for comments. I will set up an example later and we can see what would work for the group.
Here we go http://supporteachotherinlookingforwork.blogspot.com/
I have posted up the CV format I was given that worked wonders for me!
I will add links to useful CV/Interview tips sites I have found.
You two seem to know what you're talking about so if you don't mind setting something up that would be fab! I really do need some pointers and it would just be nice to see the layout out of everyone elses CV's. I haven't had an interview in a month so something isn't right with mine.well I'm back to job searching again.
the offer has been withdrawn, no reason given I have to write to "recruitment operations" to find out why.
Gutted.
That is terrible! I am so sorry, you must be devestated.0 -

Would it help if everyone stated whereabouts in the country they're located and what type of job they're looking for? Those of us who then find jobs on employers' websites could provide the links. Everyone using this thread, not just those who post here but to include those viewing, could benefit.
For example: Travel to work area .... Looking for work as a ......
This is a fab idea! Perhaps Drea could keep a list in the first post of this topic so we know what we're looking for and can keep an eye out for others?0 -
Isn't our location shown when we post? I know mine is. Great idea as I do come across jobs which are wonderful just 300 miles away!0

Arghhh! Had an agency phone, I had to register within the hour to get a temp job and I completely forgot I'm going away for my boyfriends birthday so then had to phone them and refuse it
I feel SO bad! They don't have long to get someone else now. It was only for a week so not the end of the world for me but what a shame for them having to rush around!
Oh and I heard back from the interview I had last week, it's a no. He said he always likes to give constructive feedback but he genuinely has none for me, I didn't get it because someone else had managerial experience. He's going to keep my details in case something else pops up.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Blogger isn't ideal, going to see if I can find a better cv sharing solution...
See what Stew comes up with.
Do follow the format I posted if you aren't already, it really works0
