Hello all,
After almost 5 years of continuous service I will be unemployed as of the 1st of April due to redundancy (Our entire company has gone.) I have been on 'gardening leave' since the beginning of March and am starting to tear my hair out, out of boredom and frustration!!
I've applied for quite a lot of jobs over the months since I was notified I was being made redundant, and currently have 12+ applications out.
I've had 3 interviews, 2 which were a few months back, with no bad feedback, they just chose the other candidatesThe last interview was on Monday this week and was the interview from hell, and it now appears that the agency it was applied for through is ignoring my e-mails. (The story behind this is that I applied for an entirely different role, and they said they thought I'd get bored with it, and had another role they thought I'd like, which then became another role!!)
Is anyone else having problems with applying for jobs and having the agency turn you down because they think you'd be bored with the role? Nothing annoys me more, as I wouldn't just apply for a job for the sake of it, and surely being at work has got to be less boring than sitting at home doing nothing!!
So yes, pleased to meet you all, I expect I shall be around a lot!:rotfl:
I got this at first because I was applying for the wrong roles. It is harder but more practical for me to step up a level then step down, once I figured this I started turning the tide.
Last week though, I got called 'edgy' and ruled out for some roles the recruiter thought were 'conservative'. I am about as edgy as a bag of chips!
Best of lucK and may your unemployment be short!0 -

I simplified the job description from four pages to one - there were a few duplications of requirements and skills that I don't need to worry about focusing on. I would say this is well worth doing for OTT job descriptions particularly if buzz words are used, the job description writer is often not sure themselves what they mean. I received a nine page job description recently, wouldn't want to work for a company that talks that much waffle, it would drive me mad!
I really don't want to mess this up, not so much in terms of getting the job, but this would be my first opportunity to give a good account of myself at a major corporate. I am a bit of a punk at heart!
Good luck. Will keep fingers crossed'If honour were profitable, every man would be honourable' Thomas More

Thank you!! And to you too!
I thought I had been applying for the right jobs(mostly admin type) In my previous role it was a bit of a mish-mash of Archiving, Video Editing, Designing and general Admin!I don't have a portfolio of design/video work so I want to go back to the Archiving/Admin side, I enjoy both equally and can do both well, so hopefully something will appear :rotfl:

Feeling a bit down this whole week.
Before my temp job I was doing really well with interviews and had around 3 a week! This time around I've had nothing, the phone isn't ringing and it all just seems pointless. I'm wondering if putting the temp job on my CV is going against me for some reason?
It's raining and miserable and I'm not finding a lot of motivation to be doing things.
Sorry, I always feel bad for whinging on here, everyone has their own worries and probably don't need to listen to mine!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
Ive got an interview at an agency tomorrow so is it best i turn up smartly dressed eg suit0

Drea I don't think that its you I just think that it's really competitive at the minute. You obviously have the skills that people want as you have had loads of interviews. Hopefully stew is right and it will pick up once the new financial year starts next week.0

I really hope so, I'm losing the will this week! I have sent 35 applications since I left my temp job three weeks ago... just not sure what else I can do than keep filling them in!Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0
