So bit exciting here, just had a call about possible work, am waiting for an email with details that i need to quote for. Sounds quite exciting, just hope they heard my email address right over the phone and that it comes through soon like they said. Will be glued to my computer all afternoon now :)
Although i now feel i need a more professional email address rather than a hotmail one, may look into that later.

I'm similar with the money worries, I had a good amount saved but its being eaten into so quickly. Its amazing how long it takes to save and how quick it can disappear again, really need to be careful with my spending!

Been there many times, including last night as well. It's absolutely awful when the brain just won't switch off.

I've updated my linkedin (really don't understand the site AT ALL) for what that's worth, just don't want to miss out on anything.

I joined at the weekend and I've been contacted by half a dozen recruitment consultants/headhunters already. I'm still getting the hang of LinkedIn, but I think it might actually be a good jobhunting tool.

Only issue is, no one wants to put me forward for a role up here, they all want me to relocate to the south of England! It would be a fairly big (and expensive) move. I would also have to consider the cost of running two households, because OH couldn't leave his job until I was secure in mine (would be at least 6 months) and tbh, we're not sure we want him to move on for a few years yet.

Still, I suppose it's positive some people are showing an interest in me!

    Afternoon everyone,

I've had a fabulous day being in school, reminds me to keep staying focused and I WILL get there in the end.

Come home to two job applications to fill in as well so will get those done tomorrow. Going have to a look around the job sites now.

Looking at Linked In since everyone keeps mentioning it. It's asking me for an industry.... hmm, I want to do Admin work, I don't care what industry! I guess it's for more specific jobs?
Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

Have you considered renting a room from someone down south? use http://www.spareroom.co.uk/ to give yourself an idea on the potential cost. This may be an option for you maybe?

Well my good day has been well and truly ruined by checking my bank account. If I don't get work very VERY soon I'm screwed. If I hadn't had those 2 days work 3 weeks ago I'd already be screwed :( I've had nothing off them since, I'm sure I only secured those 2 days as the people who normally cover that nursery weren't available. I've just emailed them to say I'm available all Easter hols as they start soon. Really hope I can something :(

Well, I've been offered an interview in London! :j

The downside is, the company won't pay expenses. It would cost me at least £90 for the train, plus I would need a hotel room. Alternatively, I could get the coach overnight for a lot cheaper, but I would need somewhere to freshen up. I know Kings Cross have shower facilities (or at least, they did a year ago!) but does anyone know of anywhere else with a shower in central London?

It's a bit mad, spending a whole day on a coach in total, but if it gets me a decent job...

    Trying not to get excited.

I think it's more for professional roles, like accountancy or IT. Try having a look for some agencies that do admin work - if they're on LinkedIn, then yes, you should be too. I spotted Hays the other day for accountancy, maybe their secretarial division is on too?

I hate living with other people (my OH being the exception!) but it probably does make more sense renting a room rather than a whole flat or bedsit, particularly if I travel back to see my OH at the weekends. Thanks for the link, will check it out to get an idea of costs. :)

Fingers crossed things look up for you soon, Steph. I know you're trying really hard.
