Thanks Pinkdebster! I thought I should be doing that and thought I had spotted not to release unless you couldnt do it but wasnt sure how LB timed us and matched it up to our input. Always type 5 for me at the moment....log in to find those and sigh a little! Favourites are probably 1 and 4 for me I think!
  • Hi all! :j
I am new here on this forum as well as new to LB. I just started officially "working on tasks" this past weekend and like the others I feel very overwhelmed. It is really difficult to grasp everything, but after reading comments here, it seems as though it will get easier. I do have two questions and please forgive me if they have already been asked / answered. I didn't have time to read through all the pages.

My first question is about those tasks that need to be "resolved". I don't quite understand what I am supposed to do. The few that I had come back to me, I still felt that the way I rated the task was correct and did not want to change it. A few of them I received more than twice, so I just have them sitting in there. Can anyone help me understand unresolved tasks better?

Secondly, I really don't understand how to keep track of different tasks and the times. It seems like a really big hassle to count each task. I just wonder if anyone has a good method of doing this and wanted to pass along their method to a new person like myself. I get so involved in doing them one after another, that I forget to count. I received an email from LB today that said I didn't have to count the tasks as long as my time was correct, so now I am totally confused.

Thanks for any help you can offer!! I really appreciate it. I just hope this all gets easier because I really love it so far. :)

With regards to unresolved tasks in your que - if you have re-read through the guidelines and still feel that your first choice is the correct one, then leave it as it is. Moderators will post a comment if it remains unresolved for a day or more, which helps to identify how raters should or could have chosen. You should check back on any tasks which are still unresolved and take on board any comments from moderators. If it seems you need to re-rate then do so. They will eventually be cleared from your list.

Re timing - most of us use the software Lionbridge task control from - http://www.lbtaskcontrol.com/download.asp (use the "available for everyone .exe link)

Yesterday I recieved notification that I had passed the exam!! :j

I'm keen to get started but waiting for them to send all the stuff through.

I need to get myself registered as self employed too, is this relevantly easy when you already have a full time job you pay tax on? Confused by it all really.

The software has been mentioned a few times on here, but it was made by another rater, not LB themselves. You should check out the Lionbridge thread on moneymaker group too, lots of good info both here and there on all aspects of the job - http://www.moneymakergroup.com/Lionbridge-Technologies-I-t347344.html :D

I'm a bit worried. Received an email a few days ago saying my quality of rating is below minimum which I suspect is mainly for Type 5 tasks and I keep thinking I'm gonna get a sacking email! I've been rating for just under a months. Anyone else got a similar email?

    Hiya

This is my fourth week rating and so far I've heard nothing from anyone. I seem to get a lot of tasks back for resolving so I'm thinking I'm not doing that great either! I've had a lot of Type 5 tasks too but I have absolutely NO idea how I'm doing!!

Did they give you any idea of what you need to do to improve? Seriously, I've never had a "job" like this before where you are so isolated without anyone to turn to for assistance.................

    Hi,

From what I can gather they will contact you if you get poor Star rating. There is a lot of stuff on LB portal (videos, quizzes etc...) that can help.

Might be an idea to send them an email and ask for some feedback on how you're doing - I think there's an email address on the portal that you can try.

Just a quick question for anyone that might know.
My friend has also managed to get this position, does anyone know if we can rate in the same building (even in different rooms) as he seems to think he's read that they check your IP address and so it's not allowed.
    Thanks :)
