I am now the proud owner of a Stockbridge Arrow rhubarb plant, and a liquorice plant (Glycyrrhiza glabra).

    :j

The rhubarb's getting a drink, but will have to wait for the weekend until I can dig a hole.

I've put the liquorice, pot and all, into a bigger pot with a sand / multi-purpose compost mix. It's in the greenhouse to keep it out of the wind, as it looked distinctly displeased with being entrusted to Royal Mail.

I'm not sure where I'm going to put it TBH, as the instructions say a sheltered spot out of the wind. I don't know if I've got one. :o
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

:( Has no-one got a spare you can have? Mrbadexample snr has just given me a picolino cucumber plant - and I don't really eat them. :o

No, I am chief cucumber grower in these parts...but not this year :( I may well buy a baby plant if I see one but it feels like cheating!

I know what you mean. I got some leeks from a nice lady on freecycle. They're better than mine. :(

I normally end up with loads but they get made into passata. This year I've cut back though and am only growing cherry toms.

But my one and only cucumber plant has died  I am gutted. Damn red spider mites.

It happens - even to professionals!

You have plenty of time - if you were anywhere near me I could sub you one!
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

You can actually squish sweetcorn in closer [much closer] than they say. They used to grow them in spirals rather than blocks, so that's how I plant mine these days.

I really wish I had some flowers on my tomatoes. I can't wait much longer. :(
