Motability issue

  • An agreement would have had to be signed by your son stipulating that he needed to comply with T&C's which state the maximum mileage allowed. He has not done this, so is liable to pay for the engine!

you are not allowed to have car if you do not sign how do you penny know he did not.why would motability make and take all the effort of stating the extra mileage payment.as it so said it could not be used because the voided item would stop this.it is just another dealers wat of not paying.get motability to contact dealer,

When I had Motability cars (many years ago) the limit was 12k miles a year (36k for the period).

I did 10k the first year, but 15k the second and the dealer wanted to charge me, I only did this extra 5k due to travel for work and argued with them it's 36k over 3yrs and what difference does it make if I did all that in year 1 or spread over 3yrs. They agreed I could pay when I handed the car back.

The final year I did 10k again so over the 3 yrs it was just over 35k.

I know others who stopped driving there Motability car due to going over the mileage in the for 18months. Now it's 20k it's far better.

But re the OP question, if its been serviced according the the service book (ie 12months or 18k miles), then I can't see it being you're fault and having to pay, if you haven't and you've tried to hide the excess mileage then you might be. Its best to have it services per the service book and pay any excess mileage at the end of the term.
  • The mileage excess is 2,300 but I have another year left before limit of 60,000 but motability dealer will not budge. It is a Nissan and not been neglecetd serviced as per motability agreement. Tried all explanantions why mileage is high but no joy. My next step is to contact Nissan direct. My sons school is a 52 mile trip twice a day as well as essential outings .

As others have said, 20K PA is around 5K more than normal family use. That said, I had a engine blow in a brand new Discovery after 400 miles, but that is side tracking. The OP's failure to disclose the milage leave the issue open for everyone to suspect another reason. Have they voided the warranty due to misuse? It appear likely. I would not expect many disabled people who use their motability cars to go well over milage allowance if the vehicle was used as intended.

This is because you know absolutely nothing about it and are just offering an uninformed, pointless, and frankly stupid opinion.

Believe it or not, there are disabled children aswell as adults.
My 6 year old has to be driven nearly 60 miles per day, JUST FOR SCHOOL. This is without 5-6 hospital appointments per month.
