I ordered some of these for my DS who is starting "big school" (reception) in September.
They have a little picture motif as well as the name.
I picked a little blue train.
Ordered on Thursday evening....arrived this morning (Sat).

If you use the embroidered labels, have them made up with just your surname. Then they can be used by all members of the family! (Not much help if you are an Evans or Smith though!)
i use the embroidered labels. if you have more than one child, you can put initials at the begining and end of the name.
So, john and sarah smith would be J Smith S, and just fold the unneeded initial underneath when you sow them on.LBM-2003ish

I just ordered some off ebay (label-makers)and by the look of the labels and the location of the company I think they are the same as wovenlabelsuk.com but a lot cheaper (£3.25 for 144 instead of £5.99). I was going to do the 'name surname name' thing so I could use one set for both DDs but they allowed me to split the order so I can have 72 of each name.0

Probably not, sorry! When I run out of taggits I'll be folding the label in half and sewing along the one edge rather than all round...They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -

These claim to withstand commercial washers and dryers - but I have no experience of them.

You should try the iron-on name tags from My Nametags (mynametags.com). They give a washing guarantee for the iron-on labels - think they are the only ones.
The simplest is maybe to write the last name and a mobile on the labels, that way they can be handed down without too much grumpiness.0 -

Wow those look great, quite expensive though... Although mine have quite common surnames and first names I believe so it might be worth the extra cost for something abit more unique for us.0 -
Have you had a look at brilliantlabels.co.uk?
The name labels are available in a range of sizes, so there should be one to fit almost everything. They offer a choice of vibrant colours and different fonts with an extensive range of fun images.
There is a 10% discount code live on this site at the moment, just type in BRILLVC into the promo box after you have added your labels.
You can personalise your labels online and preview them before you buy them. The labels are made from excellent quality vinyl, and the clothing labels can be laundered by hand or in a washing machine & tumble dryer. The waterproof name labels are dishwasher and microwave safe.0 -
Name it Labels are fab. They do packs with lots of different options. Their shoe labels and covers are great too.0

I thought the taggits would be the miracle I needed.
Sadly after about 3/4 of a year (we moved mid year), I started finding bits of plastic in the washing machine seal. We never wash anything at more than 60, normally 40, but the white shirts need a bit extra
I've gone back to cash's labels, of which some of mine from 30 years ago are still going strong....shame I changed my surname when I got married, or a sharpie. I might start on the nail varnish on black school shoes, which are very hard to label - genius idea!
