Name labels for kids...

permanent marker... labels can be removed but if you write names on the inside of the sleeve/leg for example they can't be.
And just write surnames so they can be passed along... though DD2 (yr9) was given DS3's (yr7) fleece because it just had surname in lol.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Don't forget Taggits for fixing fabric nametapes. Little plastic rivets make the job a breeze and last pretty well. http://shop.wovina.com/p-21-taggits.aspx
We got tapes printed up with 'daughter's initials' SURNAME 'son's initials' and just fold the wrong bit under. I found the iron on ones a waste of time.
During these discussions I always remember an article I read a few years ago which described us as alpha/ beta/ gamma mums depending on whether we sewed in woven tapes or ironed on or wrote in pen. I've moved from gamma up to alphaThey call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
I was also going to say about surname only but not just for money saving reasons....if your DD or DS is playing anywhere after school and takes off their coat, jumper etc, no stranger will be able to see your child's name and approach them making them think they know them0

We bought stickers for shoes from startrite. I didn't think they were too expensive. Only a couple of pounds for 8 pairs of shoes."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0

M&S here as well. You just text your order through.0

I use a pen too. I write their names in obvious places like round the back of the collar to make it easier to find things in PE.
My daughter lost a shoe last term. She's in nursery and I'd written her name on the insole, but she came home in one correct shoe and one was a size too small. School sent a note home but we never got the correct shoe back, so I've had to buy a new pair.
They have velcro straps on, so I've painted the inside of the strap with bright red nail polish. She's too young to read her name but knows she needs to make sure she has the shoes with red stripes on!Here I go again on my own....0 -

Can these survive a boil wash?
My daughter is off to boarding school in September, and everything has to be able to withstand the rigours of the school laundry...0 -
I sew her initials into the tag that is visible when ironing.... and permanent marker her name into the longer label that tends to be inside the jumper.... only because we ended up with a cardigan belonging to another kid in DDs class but I didn't realise we had it until I happened to be checking the name tags inside the clothes were still there... OOPS!
If it's visibly different during ironing I think it's more likely to make it back to the owner - or at least the lost and found pile in school.:)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I had surname on my cashes tapes, with the initial for one child at the start and the other at the end, with spaces of course. Then just fold under the wrong end, and the labels work for both children, and they work out cheaper on a larger order.0
